Purchase and bring a laptop security cable (assuming the laptop has a port for it - most full sized laptops do) and secure it to a piece of furniture - that is the easiest option.
Safety deposit boxes are also available at the front desk, which is the most secure option, but also the most inconvenient.
Having said that, I haven't secured my laptop when in a hotel room. Hotel rooms are generally pretty safe, and whomever enters/exits the room using a key is tracked electronically - so if something were to ever turn up missing, they can do quite a bit of investigative work.
where are you staying?? the safe in AKV Kidani was plenty big enough for our laptop if we had brought the bigger ones, as it was we brought our Netbook and it fit with PLENTY of room. when we even remembered to put it away and not just leave it on the desk, but we didn't have mousekeeping since we were staying on points.
My dh had his along for work, and we had it up and sitting on our desk. We put it away, in the lap top case, locked up the case and set it alongside our luggage. It was a pain getting it in/out, but I took the time and did it.
We are staying at AK regular section, I think it's the Jambo part of the resort.
DS will be starting online High school
next year and may have to log in a do a bit of work but the school has
there own issued laptops with programs already downloaded. We will be asking the school
about being able to download a few of the programs onto an older laptop
for travel. We usually bring an older laptop on trips so as to not worry about
them being stolen. I thought about just putting it in the case and placing it under all of our dirty clothes.
