I have a Sony Vaio laptop and it has an incredibly noisy fan.
I can hear this fan over music and the television and it is constantly going.
I have never had a computer that was so noisy as this one.
I went to the Sony Support site and they said I have no Power Panel so I can't adjust the fan speed but I need to do something about this fan because it has become really annoying.

Anyone know what I can do?

You could try to replace the fan? I'm not sure if it will make much difference or trade the laptop in and get a new one that has a quieter fan. Was the fan ALWAYS noisy? or did the noise slowly get worse?

I have a Sony Viao laptop at home and my fan isn't that noisy.

Rippington's Fan said everything else that I had to say. LOL

What model of Vaio do you have??

Other than what has already been said it might be worth looking in the bios to see if any power management setting could be turned on that would affect the fan speed.

Which model do you have? You can quiet the fan on most notebooks through Power Panel, but this may cause the notebook to heat up faster and can cause some performance issues.

I have a PCG-FRV37 and apparently my model doesn't have a power panel.

This laptop is brand new as of November so there is no way in hell I am repairing it, trading it in, or getting a new one.

It has always been this loud but now I can't stand it anymore

If you got it in November, then it should still be under warranty. For a fan to be making that much noise is not normal, and could cause problems down the line.

I would also check the Sony support website to see if they have any BIOS updates available for your model. Once in a while, I've seen a laptop with a fan problem that was fixed with a BIOS upgrade.
