Laptop Heat?!?

So I have read and actually DH brought it up tonight regarding the heat from the laptop and the effect it can have on being able to have children....so what he read was about men and it made both of us wonder could it have the same effect on women? I have the laptop on my lap all evening sometimes up to 5-6 hours...so needless to say I will not be doing that anymore but it just made us wonder....has anyone heard of this?

Overheating has an adverse affect on spermatogenesis. That's why the um...factory...is not inside the body. It's a degree or so cooler the way it's designed. There are even studies to see if heat can be used as contraception. I forbid DH to wear tighty-whities when we were TTC; only boxers, for maximum cooling. (I was quite desperate to conceive, I'm sure I was a little over the top -lol)


A woman is born with all her eggs, so heat doesn't affect her ability to reproduce.

factory" needs to be kept air conditioned, even without a laptop.

As for you having the laptop in your lap for 5-6 hours, (nothing to do with heating your eggs,) I made a laptop tray from one of those large, white coated wire "add a shelf" units. It keeps the laptop off my legs completely, is a nice lightweight, ventilated tray. My laptop has the fan on the bottom, so I have to keep the airway free. This works perfectly.

Mine looks similar to this. There are also sliding adjustable shelves for people with wider hips in the pic on the right.

No more child-bearing for me, but I do use a laptop cushion made by Belkin called a Cushtop Notebook cushion. It is very light weight and is very comfortable on my lap. I usually sit in a recliner and it makes it easier for me to type. You might want to look into something like this if the heat is a problem for you.

That's a cool idea! (no pun intended! ) It's probably not good for the laptop for it to be on your lap for 5-6 hours in a stretch.
