We were on the Wonder two years ago and I can't remember the size of the room safe. We sail on Magic the end of the month "hopefully", and was wondering if room safe is large enough for laptop. If not what do others do with theirs. I know a lot of people take theirs to download pictures. While I think it would be relatively safe to take it, since it is my work computer I wouldn't feel comfortable unless I could keep it secure.

Any comments or help would be appreciated

Hello. We were in a category 3 a few weeks ago, and even though I didn't take my laptop, it looked to me like it would not have fit -- not even close. The safes are not very big. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. You could probably take a lock for your suitcase, and lock the laptop in it, then use a bicycle lock to anchor the suitcase down, if you are really concerned.

The one and only time I've brought mine I just put it in a drawer. The room steward won't mess with it.

For pictures, I think it easier just to make sure you have enough memory being as inexpensive as it is now, or, you can now get a CD burned at Shutters and clear the memory out.

We took ours before and didn't have any trouble with it. We left it out on the dressing table/desk. The safe is waaaay too small to fit a laptop into. However, if you aren't comfortable leaving it out, you can probably take it down to guest services to be put in a larger safe/secure area. Just check it in/out as you need it. :scratchin Just a thought. :confused3

As others have said, a laptop won't fit in the room safe. I just put mine in a bureau drawer.

However, if you wanted to be more secure, you could bring one of those laptop chains with lock, and chain it to something in the cabin (table, etc.). I wouldn't worry about it if it is out of sight, unless you're one of those people who purposely leave the stateroom door open even when everyone is gone.

I was just on the Magic 8/21. I left my laptop out on the table the entire trip and not once did I feel that it was not safe.

I couldn't see taking a $2000 laptop for downloading photos when memory sticks are so cheap now. I wasn't really worried about the laptop being stolen, I was more concerned about it being damaged while being constantly loaded and unloaded on the x-ray machines at the airport.

I've also gotten into the mindset that I want to just enjoy my vacations, not spent a lot of time photographing it. We bought almost all the photos from Shutters, and took enough pictures of the kids and us to show we were there. but spend the rest of the time just enjoying.

we left ours out on the table... the safe is waaaayyy too small for a laptop.

We used ours to watch DVD's at the airport, on the plane etc. not just for downloading pictures, which Shutters didn't do in January, but now I guess they do.

I left my laptop sitting on the desk all week, never felt unsafe about leaving it.

I only got worried about my laptop when I left it at the Budget counter

Budget shipped it back to me the next day, THANK YOU BUDGET!!

Wow those budget girls at the Cape are wonderful.

We locked our iBook in the safe at the AKL and WL, but forgot all about the concept once we boarded the Wonder. The safe was too small though, anyway.
We ended up leaving out laptop out on the table and sofa and had no problems. Usually we are a bit more paranoid than that, but I think that we were so excited to be on our first cruise that we completely forgot. I would just bring extra memory cards, but we enjoy DVDs on the plane.
