Hey guys, long time since I`ve been on here, but we finally got our trip sorted for this year:banana: Decided to try onsite especially as we normally come in sept, but due to DS going into final year at school (lots of exams) had to make it Aug. So booked Royal Pacific Resort, hoping we`ve made a good choice.
Bit annoyed we`re going to miss out on HHN this year, which we love, made even better last year by meeting up with MetroWest and Raphb :thumbsup2 Hope you guys are ok.
Anyway bit of a how long is a piece of string question but is it generally much busier in Aug? We arrive 14th Aug till 28th. I see someone has already asked about Aug park hours so that`s been answered. I assumed the parks would be open much later but I`m sure Citywalk will keep us amused:goodvibes
Didn`t pay much attention last year but when you get the little boat from the hotel where does it drop you off?
Is there anything special going on in Aug, couldn`t find a site that gave us any info, my computer won`t let us into the official Universal at the moment, not sure why.
I have only seen good reviews of RPR so really looking forward to staying there, it looks so beautiful. :)

Well hello Miss Carole...glad you're still doing well and I hope the family is too!

The August crowds will still be a little thick but will start winding down since schools start around that time. Last year in August, the hours were 8/14 - 8/16 9am to 10pm and then the rest of the month the parks are open until 8pm. I don't know of anything special going on in August yet but will let you know if I do.

Since I don't stay at the hotels, one of the other homies will have answer those questions for you. From the pictures I've seen, RPR looks very nice!

We will have to try and meet up once you arrive!
:thumbsup2

Stayed at RPR a few years ago and thought it was great. We usually stay at WDW but it is definitely comparable to a deluxe resort at WDW only less Mickeyish....lol.

Missed HHRN the last couple of years and am really bummed...maybe next year.

RPR is a great hotel and very relaxing and the boat will drop you off right in the middle of citywalk :thumbsup2

all the boats from the hotels do the drop off at city walk.

the boat dock is not on the main stretch of city walk.
it is across from the HRC, but other side of the waterway.

on the right side of the boat dock when you get off, you can walk up the ramp and be near the universal globe.
on the left side of the dock, you can use those long steps up to get to the main section of city walk which will lead you to IOA.

:thumbsup2 Thanks guys, even though it`s six months away......sooooo excited:banana: Always glad to hear good reviews of the hotel.

Todd :goodvibes would love to meet up when we`re there, that would be really lovely, was going to ask you if you would be around on those dates. :thumbsup2

Have been seeing pics of the new ride! WOW :scared1: Is it really going to be more or less a straight climb at the beginning?? Don`t think I`d be brave enough to go on that. Took everything I had to go on the hulk last year.

Thanks again for the info going to wander over to the hotel forums, never looked on them before. I`m sure there`s lots of info on there :)

I'll be here those dates. Actually...my birthday is 8/22 which is a Saturday this year but I'll at Disney to get my $75.00 gift card! :woohoo:

:thumbsup2 Cool! It`s Tom`s special (50sshhhh) birthday on the 25th Aug. Think he fancies Kobe for that night but looking at the restaurants in the Royal Pacific, we may have a choice to make. The sushi one looks gorgeous.

Another question when the new coaster opens, I think I`m right in saying you can`t use the FOTL pass because it`s new. Is this correct? And how long are rides open before they have FOTL passes being used on them. IykwIm :)

I'm not sure how Universal will handle the Express access when the HR3 opens. I would imagine there will be an Express line at some point but who knows. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

BTW...I've had dinner at Kobe across from Universal...excellent! A little pricey but excellent all the same.
:thumbsup2

Thanks Todd, was not sure about whether it could be used or not. But at the end of the day I`m sure we`d still stand in line, hoping I don`t chicken out:scared1:

We went to Kobe at LBV last year and loved it, even Kyle ate everything, think he may have been wary of the guy with the big cleaver though:lmao:
