Lap-Top Question

Hi we leave in 9 days and i have a quick question how much does inernet cost and is it safe to leave your lap-top in your room we are staying at AKL if that helps at all tia's

I believe internet costs 9.95 per every 24 hours. I've used it several times, and believe that was the charge.

I have always left my computer in the room and have never had a problem. If you're uncomfortable leaving it there, you can always put it in the safe. I have a fairly large laptop (17") and it fits fine standing on its side in the safe.

You can always buy a cable lock for your laptop for about $20. It's a great way to secure your laptop.

My DS16 brought his laptop with him on our March trip this year -- he left it in the room under some neatly piled clothes and there was no problem. We didn't try the safe because our iPods and other stuff was in there, but I think Safetymom's right and it would fit.

I brought my lap top with me on my last journey in August. I put a cable lock on it and didn't have any problems.

We stayed at Fort Wilderness in the Cabins and there is no way our laptop woud have fit in the safe, we put it in a cabinet and if was fine.

Spent 6 days in site and had my laptop. Left it out in the open and it wasn't even touched. The cleaners there worked right around it making sure not to disturb it. It is very safe there. I have stayed at other places that take it upon themselves to shut down and close your laptop when your not in the room (not good service).

I bring my laptop all the time and when we leave the room I just put it in the case and then in my luggage which I keep in the closet and I've never had a problem.

No problem at POR. We had laptop on the table, still there when we got back. Internet was billed by the 24 hour period, we ended up only using 3 24 hour periods out of our 4 night stay. It was great to have as my dh has his own biz and we had to keep in touch. Now we have internet via our Verizon wireless.

I sometimes use Budget Dialup (www.budgetdialup.com) which allows you to pay as you go for usage rather than month to month. $10 gives me 20 hours to use which is plenty to check my email and keep in touch with work. They have other plans and the unused minutes roll over from month to month to use later. Great for traveling and cheaper than the high rate Disney charges.

More recently my cell phone (Sprint Treo) has internet on it. I can connect my laptop to it through USB and my laptop is then on the internet through my phones internet subscription.

Honestly, I usually dont need my laptop nor internet when at Disney. I'm on vacation!!

I don't bring my laptop for internet use but to download pics from my digital camera so I can download the pics from the card and then erase it and start over. I have 2 cards and they are expensive!

I've always left my laptop on the table, never been touched. Last time I took 3500 pictures, so I needed to transfer nightly off the cards. I'm too cheap to pay their 10/day charge.

All the McDonald's around here have free wifi, as do most coffee shops. Since we have a car, if I absolutely needed access, I'd find somewhere with free wifi. I'm not sure I could stand to do dialup. When I go to the inlaws and use their dialup, it's shear torture.
