Is there a restriction on the number of lap children that can sit in a row on airplanes? I could have swore there was a limit of one lap child per row. Am I crazy?

One of my co-workers is flying on Allegiant with family, and they plan on having 3 adults, and 2 lap babies. Plus they paid to sit next to each other. Is that going to work out?

i would assume the limit is one lap child per adult.

they should contact the airline to ask since they should already be contacting the airline to inform them of the lap children to begin with as the airlines like to know ahead of time.

I believe the limit is 4 (3 people in seats, 1 lap child) because that is how many oxygen masks are in the ceiling.
Your friends will be better off with one of the parents across the aisle or in the row behind/ahead if that is what they are planning.

They ought to call the airline.

I would also recommend that they contact Allegiant as soon as possible to confirm how many lap children are allowed per row. I didn't see anything on the Allegiant website, but other places (e.g., SeatGuru) do say the policy is one lap child per row.

No, as stated, there's a limit due to the amount of oxygen masks available. OP, your friends are going to have to split up, placing one adult and lap baby in another row.

Thanks guys. I thought there was a limit. My friend had no idea, so I've told her to call the airline.

My cousin flys with her 1-year-old triplets with her husband and sister, all in the same row.

6 people in 3 seats together? I would bet that there are not 6 oxygen masks for 3 seats.

Here is United's rules:

Infant seating

Children who are not held by an adult and are unable to sit upright with the seat belt fastened must be carried in an FAA-approved infant seat. United does not provide infant seats. The infant seat must be secured in an aircraft seat and cannot be held on an adult's lap. The infant seat must remain properly secured to the aircraft seat at all times. An infant seat cannot be used in an exit row or in the row immediately before or after an exit row.

Due to oxygen mask allocation, on some aircraft only one lap child is allowed per seat section, and passengers with lap infants may not be seated in certain rows.

Children over two years of age are required to have purchased tickets and occupy their own seats. Passengers traveling with infants and children under 15 years of age may not be seated in exit rows.

Shame on her and the airline; the flight attendants should have caught this and made them move. Totally unsafe and not allowed; again because there are not 6 oxygen masks in a row of 3 seats. Plus, I agree that that sounds extremely uncomfortable.

On some regional jets there's only an extra oxygen mask on one side of the plane too. I was sitting behind a family of 5 with a lap baby (2 and 2 seating) and the baby was only allowed on the right side of the plane because that's the only side that had an extra mask.
