Lanyards

Just got back from RPR. They have the house lanyards, but not the tie ones in the gift shop.

We did the first morning without lanyards and it was a PITA. Digging out park tickets and putting away. Digging out hotel key card and putting away. Digging out EPs and putting away. Over and over and over. My life (holder of all things) improved 100x once everyone had lanyards and were responsible for their own crap. :)
This is why I was really wanting to buy a lanyard before we get there... I'm the holder of all things too! :) I wonder if you can buy the tie lanyards in CityWalk somewhere? or if I have to wait until I actually get inside the parks?

I don't know about City Walk - we didn't go there. If you are flying in, I know the Universal store at the airport has the tie ones.

The weird thing is - none of the tie ones had the plastic holder attached. All the other ones do. I don't know if they give them out separately (held behind the counter) or if the people I saw with them brought their own plastic sleeve. But in every place I saw the tie ones (and there were several in the HP part of the park) - none had the sleeve. Weird.

We are flying in, so I'll check out the airport store! Thanks for the tip! That is strange that the tie ones didn't have the sleeve... that's sort of the whole point in buying one. Maybe we have one sitting around here somewhere that I can bring with me. :)

I think I have about 20 different ones so far. (Walmart, Amazon, Home Depot, Disney, Universal, Walgreens) My favorites have been some we got from Home Depot and phone cases from Amazon.

The Home Depot ones are the cheapest of all the lanyards I have bought at about $3, and they are also probably the sturdiest best made ones as well. They are extra long made of some kind of strong thin chord. The style has worked better than any other type I've tried from a practical standpoint. The clasp hasn't come undone as some of my Disney and Univesal ones did, they don't twist up as much, they don't fly up as much, and the extra long length means I don't have to take the lanyard off to scan anything.

The Amazon ones I got were waterproof phone cases, and I've gotten a lot of use out of them. I love having them when we go to the beach, a pool, or a water park. It's nice knowing my stuff is safe around my neck. I don't like leaving it on a pool chair. It's an added bonus you can take underwater pics with the phone, and I also use the case to hold small misc. items I want to keep with me when in the park.

I think you've answered the question that I have but just for clarity.

Even though we are spending a gazillion dollars between Universal park tickets and HRH stay, we will not be given some sort of lanyard with our express passes when we check into the HRH?

I know my daughter will want to buy a special lanyard but me and my husband would be happy with any lanyard.

No, they don't give them away.

Thank you for the Hot Topic suggestions! I stopped by the mall today and Hot Topic had a Hufflepuff lanyard for me, a Gryffindor one for my daughter, and a Slytherin one for my husband. He refuses to take the quiz so my daughter and I decided just to sort him into Slytherin- lol. The lanyards were $8.50 each and now I won't have to waste time buying them at the hotel. Like many of you, I am the keeper of the cards so that's why I really wanted to have them before we go into the parks. I think having 3 different lanyards will make it easy for us to grab them and go in the mornings.

sooo.... We are leaving this afternoon for 5 days at Universal and I haven't picked up any lanyards like I planned. Are there any other shops at UO that have the lanyards and maybe the witz type cases or are they all the little plastic sleeves? I'm looking mainly for options for the cases not so much the actual strap.

ETA: We are staying at RPR and I plan to check there, just wondering if we should just grab what they have at the hotel or if there are other options in the parks
