Hi,

First time posting in this part of the boards. I wanted to know if lanyards with a badge holder will come in handy while at the parks? I'm only bringing my back pack and would need one to hold my room key, gift cards, ID and insurance cards. I found some nice Harry Potter lanyards for a good price on etsy. Do people usually bring them when going to the parks? I don't want to stick out anymore than I normally would. Thanks for any and all help. :flower1:

Yes we regulars do use the lanyards. It's very convenient to have your park entry ticket facing one window and your express pass facing the other window so they can be easily scanned. I put my hotel card and other cards between them.

You can wait till you get to the parks and pick your lanyard. A lot of nice options. Make sure to get the card holder that has the Ziplock on it. Helps to protect your cards from water.

They sell the lanyards at the Universal store in city walk as well as the big Universal stores inside both parks.
Have a great trippixiedust:

i usually wear two lanyards.
my blue very old UO wallet type of lanyard and then the UO lanyard

We all use lanyards .I keep the express pass visible in the plastic pouch and often they can scan it right thru the pouch. If I bring anything else to the parks, it is my kipling waistpack ( allowed on everything but the coasters)

We are lanyard wearers as well. Our Premier AP's (which give us free Express after 4 pm) face out on one side of the clear pouch, and our Photoconnect AP faces out on the other side.

Thanks so much!!! I will definitely get the Lanyards and some badge holders. Thanks again. pixiedust:

How big does the pocket need to be? Must/should it be clear on both sides?

I'm trying to re-purpose some old stuff.....Thanks

The pocket needs to be credit card sized. You don't need it to be clear on both sides; if you'll have Express Pass you want that to be visible and scannable so you don't have to take it out all the time.

I personally LOVE my Ravenclaw "house tie" lanyard, which I pair with my hard plastic, waterproof, clear, Witz-brand "See It Safe" case. We had one too many soft plastic pouches break; either the ziptop breaks or the hole that the clasp goes through does. neither one is good to have break.

They gave me a lanyard with photo connect. Found it useful as photographers would see it and encourage us to stop for photos.

Is this one sold in the parks? If so, do you recall how much they cost? I've got some plain jane lanyards at home we could use but yours sounds so cute! But hate to drop a lot of money when we COULD use the boring ones. LOL I looked at some on the universal site and they seemed overpriced.

Thanks!

Just be sure to tuck your lanyard in your shirt when on the rides! I learned that the hard way.

The house tie lanyards are sold in the parks, and at the Universal store in CityWalk. Also online.

We purchased lanyards from Universal last May, and the character ones (we purchased Minions and Simpsons) come with the clear, sealable plastic pouch. They also have the clip that allows you to remove the lower portion without removing the lanyard from around your neck (very handy....many of the dollar store cheapies don't have that feature). Ours were $8.95 each. Very worthwhile purchase....especially when one broke after a ride on Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls, and a TM had it replaced for us, free of charge, without us even asking.

I got each of us a lanyard before our June trip last year, and none of us wore them. Now, we don't have Express Passes - you would want to have your ticket in a lanyard for that - and our deal is that Mom has the park tickets at all times, period. I love my boys, but they don't always keep up with stuff well. So, they had lanyards available, but no real need to use them, so they didn't. Not a biggie, they were still a nice souvenir.

I got ours from ebay.

My daughter was wearing her etsy-bought Gryffindor scarf lanyard when we went for the show in Ollivanders. I am convinced that was why she got picked to have the wand pick her.

That is super cute!! Too bad I didn't see one like this sooner, I totally could have made them for our group! I'm knitting house scarves for all of us, assuming I don't run out of time. Doing the kids first of course, since time is very short!! LOL, these would have been MUCH faster. ;)
