lanyards & pins

I hope this is the right catgory. We are going in September and I think my oldest will be old enough to do the pin trading, I wanted to order some off ebay to get us started but not sure how to tell if the are official or someone trying to sell a knock off. Is there key words I should look for or if they say disney pins should I be okay.

I bought pins from ebay for our last 3 trips and this trip I have bought a few (ok WAY too many!!) from this seller: 52jcmdisneypins If you type in the search box: Disney pin lot you can look through to find her. She sells lots of 15 or 30. I have won some of her auctions and got pins and shipping that breaks down to $1.85 a pin. I am guessing you can also do a search for a seller. Her pins are GREAT! My girls have kept a lot of pins that she sent us instead of using them for trading! Hope this helps! Also you want to look for a seller that says : There are NO Spanish Sedesma pins, NO German ProPins & NO Euro-Disney pins in this lot.

bought mine off ebay all offical with original mickey head backers. When in doubt ask the seller. The one I dealt with was great, if i can remember his screen name i'll post

Try Wal-Marts in Orlando for Disney lanyards, cups, clothes and such.

If you go to the "Collectors" forum here on the DIS there is a TON of info on buying authentic pins.

Buying on eBay is VERY tricky because there are so many counterfeits. Look for sellers who guarantee NO SCRAPPERS. Also make sure they have a return policy listed and that they show an exact picture of the pin(s) you are bidding on, NOT a picture they "borrowed" from the Disney pin website or Pin Pics. The seller should also be willing to post a clear, detailed photo of the back of the pin if you ask. The best place to buy pins is from the Disney Store or Disney Shopping because then you don't have to worry about fakes.

Feedback on eBay is worthless because most people don't know how to recognize a counterfeit. If the pin looks good they post good feedback.

If you decide to buy off of e bay, check the seller's ratings. If it's someone who has sold many Disney pins you will be able to see how satisfied the buyers were and if any fakes were sold. Otherwise, buy a few when you get to the parks or hotels. Buy the least expensive ones, just to have a few and then have fun trading till you find the ones that you want.

I have bought from this eBay seller, phyllisf124, for our last couple trips and the pins I get from them are amazing. A good number of them are ones that you can only get from cm lanyards. So I always buy more then I need for trading because out of the ones they send us about 10% we end up wanting to keep and not trade.

Thanks for the link. I bought some stuff using that 20% off yesterday and while I couldn't get the discount on the lanyard I don't think I would have noticed it otherwise. The lanyards are more expensive at the park than that was not to mention getting the pins. Guessing (from what I remember) that would run in the nieghborhood of $20-25 dollars in WDW. Thanks

Just returned from Disney and have to say that my 6 yr old DD had a blast trading pins with the cast members. My 9 yr old DS was not interested in pin trading.

Our DD LOVED pin trading! Their ages range from 6-13. We set rules before we started. I am glad we did. They were only allowed to trade with CMs. The CMs allow you to pick which pin you want and they take whatever you give. There is no worry if the pins you are trading are of equal value. We even traded a pin that the stem on the back broke on us. The CM said no problem. I will just have to throw this one in the trash.

We also told our DDs they couldn't trade with each other. They started to trade with each other and when a pin was traded, it started you can't trade that pin. That pin was mine! So, we stoppped that real fast.

My DH and I were even sad that we didn't get in on the pin trading. Just another reason why we have to go back!!
