Has anyone had problems with putting your lanyards with pins in your carry-on?

I'm putting a "goody-bag" together for my two nephews - their first trip to WDW- and have gotten them the lanyards and some starter pins - I would like to give it to them on the plane but don't know if its allowed - wouldn't want them confiscated at the security.

Thanks

I have carried them on, no problem. The metal may cause security to want to see them so put them someplace easy to get to, but these are not restricted items.

DW always has her in her carry on. Never been asked to see them. I think they show up real well in the Xray!

I've actually seen several people wearing their lanyards on the plane to WDW. Guess they don't want to wait a second after they get there to start pin trading! I did this a few weeks ago, just took off my lanyard at security and put it in the little dish with change and keys-no problem.

My daughter who was a CM at WDW flew home last month. She had many many pins in her backpack along with her lanyards. They just asked to see what she had in there, it took all of 2 seconds for them to look and say she could go.

You may have had a problem in the time right after 9/11, but common sense has finally prevailed. The height of the silliness I observed occured on my first post-9/11 trip a couple of months after the attack. I was in a snack bar near a gate at the Detroit airport. I was at the condiment area and noticed that all the plastic knives were gone but the spoons and forks were still there. There was a note apologizing that, for security reasons, they could no longer stock plastic knives.

They're used to the pins at the Orlando airport and usually know what they are. I've often had my pin bag inspected in Chicago, but it's never been a problem to carry it on. They just check it out thoroughly and then let me through.

I had so many in my case that they couldn't tell what it was on the x-ray, so they hadn searched my carryon. No biggie. They told me from now on to put the pin case through seperately to avoid the problem, that way they'll know what it is and can zero in on the case rather than having to pull apart my entire carryon.
