Thanks for everyone that puts such great help and tips on this site! I am planning our first family trip to DW in Sept. Last time I was there was 1978 at age 5! Pre-epcot!!! So I have a lot of info to catch up on to be prepared.

My question today: I see lanyards advertised - do you need one? Do many people use them? Should I get one for each person? each kid? :confused3

Thanks!

Nope, I'm not a lanyard user.

First, I don't like wearing things around my neck when I'm hot.

Second, I think the things that most people keep in lanyards (park passes, etc.) would be too valuable for me to feel comfortable wearing on a lanyard. I read a post on the DIS that someone's lanyard blew off her neck while she was on Test Track! She never found it. I keep my stuff (park pass, hotel room key card, credit/debit card, money) in my wallet, either in my fanny pack or backpack.

:dance3: Yup, I'd have to agree. I like having hands free so a fanny pouch is perfect for that and for keeping my few important things safe. And anything around my neck during the hot months makes me feel hotter;it also itches me after awhile, so I gave up lanyards. I do keep special pins on a lanyard but if I feel like wearing certain pins, I transfer them to my pouch and use one of those metal locking backs so I do loose them. I do this for the pins I look to trade too. For me, this is much more comfy.:dance3:

No I don't like things hanging around my neck-especially when it is hot. I have a small lightweight purse/backback that I use at WDW. it has a little zipper pocket on the side that is aganist my back-so I'm not concerned about someone pickpocketing my money/tickets etc.

Got to agree with the "no lanyard" crowd here. There's no reason I can think of that you'd need to have your tickets/money/ID hanging around your neck all day. Its not like you need them every five minutes. They do just fine in my pocket.

I am also not a lanyard wearer. However, the young ones love to put their pins on them. I just make sure I have their tickets, fast passes, etc.

Never used a lanyard. I don't like having things around my neck. I like to keep our tickets in my wallet.

I dont like them around my neck, my wife and Daughter wear them for tradeing pins only

Only use them on the cruise ship b/c we're in and out of our cabin often. Also keeps our KTTW card handy when you exit at each port.
We never use them in WDW.

yeah, that.

i like mine makes foe easy acess
but it is more like a little pouch type with zippers
my brother sent IT BACK FROM IRAQ
he used them all the time under his uniform
my kids are pin traders and all 3 have lanards

The kids loved wearing them but the kept losing there pins! So I kept them in my tote for them.

I dont wear mine because I dont want to lose a pin or pay for the good backs.
The locking backs are expensive and I have a lot of pins.

I don't trust the lanyards for holding passes (we attach charging to ours) but we do wear them while pin trading.

I always wear one. Nice place to keep your room key and tickets, but don't think I'd trust the kids with one. I made a beaded one because the ribbon ones make me itchy and hot. I use the clear plastic badge holders from Walmart. A tip I got from the DIS is to put your photopass in a separate clear badge holder- they can scan it without taking it out of the pouch.

I am a CM, so I use a lanyard I bought backstage. My family members each have one, and I love it. I am absent minded, and it gives me a handy place to keep my roomkey and ID which I need for the parks. It also means that I am not digging all around in my purse for my ID when I need FPs. If I am going on a ride like Test Track, I either tuck it into my shirt or put it in my purse so I won't lose it- it has never been a problem for me. The other thing is the card holder is ziploc style, so the cards cannot fall out.

I have a pull-cord ID holder that attaches to my belt loop that I use for my PhotoPass and park ticket. I then tuck the part that holds the cards in my pocket. (make sense?)

For my trading pins, I usually attach a few traders to the outside or on the strap of my bag or camera bag. When I trade for one I want to keep, I just put that one out of sight.

i made some for the ILs to wear & kids in case we got seperated(they dont speak english)
i made some for around the neck & so as a keychain to hook on a bag

both worked great

not everyone actually wore them but the kids thought they were cool

I wear a lanyard with the plastic pocket on it to hold our passes. The rest of the family doesn't like the feeling of something around their neck like that though-especially when it's hot out.

I use one of the retractable badge holders that just clip on to your shirt, with a plastic badge holder, for our photopass. It doesn't dangle like a lanyard, and keeps the photopass handy all the time. when they need to scan the pass, just stretch out the cord. You don't even have to take it off your shirt.
