lanyards at your TDS

The manager at one of my local Disney Stores informed me that apparently they are supposed to have one person wearing a lanyard at all times while the store is open. He even showed my mom the memo that came through about it. Has anyone else heard this?

Yes.......at least one CM should have on a lanyard of pins at all times.......and Tuesday nites are supposed to be "Pin Trading Nites".....I think this has been more popular at some stores more than others.......Any CM have any views on this?

Since pin trading began at our DS, I've been saying that a CM should wear a lanyard during the week to encourage questions about trading. Our trading sessions, on Tuesday evening, are pitiful. The CM can't wait to take the lanyard off. Last evening we were through trading at 7:10pm. "Great" he said...."now I can put this away." He doesn't even wear it, just stands there holding it at arm's length. It's not worth the effort to drive there anymore.

Very interesting. At my DS they told me that trades off the store's one "official" CM lanyard are only allowed on Tuesday nights. No trading at any other time!

It is true that trading is only on Tuesday nights, but a CM is supposed to be wearing the Lanyard for "display" all week.

Some of us at my store were very excited when we learned that there would be trading in the stores...... but it never took off here ( and we have some avid pin collectors in my store) so we were very dissappointed and now I'm not sure there is even one trader in the stores on Tuesdays..... the tuesdays I have worked were sad. One night I did have a family come in and thier son traded about 3 or 4 pins -- that was fun, but that was it for the night.
At first I was trading park pins onto the lanyard ( if I wasn't working) to try and mix it up a little, but all that happened was a couple people bought TDS pins and traded for my park pins and then we were back as before

I definitely think it is more popular at some stores than others.......too bad too, I was really excited in the beginning.

I am it -- I'm the pin trader.
The lanyards look the same as they did last year! Nothing different at all! They are all YoD pins, except for a few I traded way back when.
I offered to take some of those on their lanyard to WDW and trade with WDW CM lanyards. I thought maybe if there was variety SOMEONE would care.
Next time I see the manager I am going to ask her if in May, right before I go, if they take an inventory of what I take, if I can do that. I don't know if they will or can.
But if they want pin trading in the store they need to do something!
The manager (IMHO) always thought us pin people were a pain when the YoD was going on. Now I think she would welcome seeing some pins move. They have TONS in the store in Omaha.

Like LUV am the Pin Trader at my store, and it has actually picked up at my store. On 2 consecutive weeks we had at least 10 people in our store trading on Tuesday nights. It was GREAT....They were trading Limited Editions, and Euro Disney Pins, and even some Disneyland pins showed up. Everyone who came left both times having made trades. I talk about trading to everyone who comes into our store and shows an interest in pins. I have also "traded" with guests on days other than Tuesdays, and noone at the store has a problem with it.
I think it would be great if they could somehow get us some pins from DL or WDW to add to the lanyards, I heard on my last trip to WDW that they had done a "SWAP" with DL to get different pins on the CM's lanyards at WDW, I was amazed at how many DL pins we got off CM lanyards on that trip and one of the CM's we talked to told us how they boxed up pins from lanyards at WDW and shipped them to DL and reverse. So why can't they do that with the stores??? Not awhole lot of people wanna trade for the store pins especially when alot of them are still on the racks at the store.
I had posted here a week or so ago about a guest in our store that even set up a "club" for lack of a better word on Yahoo to try and get the Pin Traders in our area to post what they have and when they would like to try and schedule bigger trading nights at our store....several people have added their names to the list so I am hoping this will help out a bit too. I am even trying to get my guests to let others know when they are scheduling trips to the parks to help others expand their collections.
I wish it would get bigger in the stores too, I would LOVE to see them send US a "MYSTERY PIN" or a LIMITED EDITION that can only be bought at the store, yeah I know our pins are "store pins" but I mean something really neat. Or even send us a pin we could GIVE to people who come in to trade, I think there are ways to get this going better but they don't really ask us that.
I would love to find someonw to get me pins i could add to the lanyards too, but I don't know that I am willing to invest my money to liven this thing up on my own, there has to be a way to do it, if anyone has any more ideas to keep my guest interested I would love to hear them.
