Lanyard question

I bought lanyards last time I was in Universal and I was wondering if I'll need to take my annual pass out of the plastic when I'm at the turnstiles at the gate? Or do they just scan them while the pass is still in the plastic pouch? Silly question, but I was just curious.

You can leave them in the pouch just make sure the bar code is facing out so it can be scanned.

It should scan fine in the plastic, barring any gremlins
