Lanyard / Pin starter kits??

I am going to Disneyland in June, and thought it would be fun for my 3 daughters to get a lanyard with some pins so they can trade with the CMs.

I have heard about starter kits. Are they only avaiable in the park, or can I get them online? What do they cost?

Any other advice on getting 3 girls started on pin collecting?

They are $25 each I believe (that's what they were last time I checked) and you can get them in the parks (in pretty much any store that sells pins or at any pin cart) and at WOD in DTD and the DTD pin cart. Don't know about online, but you could check with disney direct. They have a few different kits--Mickey, Princesses, and Tinkerbell are ones I've seen a lot. They come with a lanyard and 4 pins--2 of 2 different designs--one to keep and one to trade.

A starter kit is a good idea. When we went 2 years ago we booked through Disney Travel and they shipped us lanyards and two DTC pins for each person travelling. The adults gave all of our pins to the kids so they'd have a lot to trade with cast members when we arrived.

Get some cheap pins off ebay!
Don't get more than two that are the same, they can be hard to trade, but last year I got about 12 pins for $25 and my kids had a blast trading them! The best part is we would go into a gift shop and they would make a trade and feel like the 'got' something so we didn't come home with a bunch of expensive 'stuff'. We traded some pins over and over.
The starter sets are a good deal BUT those pins are very common and can be hard to trade out. A CM does not have to take a trade if they already have the pin...
