Is there any kind of dress code at Ama Ama? Are shorts and/or jeans permitted at breakfast or dinner? Just wondering what "resort casual" really means.

Specifically for breakfast, we're considering eating at Ama Ama before our spa treatment so will likely be in t-shirts and shorts with our bathing suits on underneath. We'll save Ama Ama for another day if we'd be out of place like that.

For the spa, it's my understanding that you are permitted to use the outdoor showers/baths and other amenities the spa has if you are having a treatment. Is your time to use this before or after your treatment? Or both? Is there a time limit? I think the brochure says to arrive early to take advantage of them, but if we have the option, we'd probably prefer to use them after the massage.

Thanks all!

We just returned and enjoyed an amazing spa visit! You arrive one hour early and have access to all of the water features. I wasn't told that I had to leave after my treatment, but really, an hour in the garden was more than enough time for me. While the spa is amazing and beautiful, I didn't want to waste the day in their either. Be sure to try the cold plunge pool. It's about as close to a polar bear plunge as I'll ever get :)

I arrived an hour early to do the water features at the spa, then got my massage. After that I went back to the relaxing sitting area and read a book while i drink their complimentary tea and ate their little snacks. It was very relaxing! Ama Ama breakfast is definitely casual, we were in shorts and tshirts with suits on underneath. It was a last second decision to eat there as we passed by, and we specifically asked if we were underdressed and that we would be happy to go change. The hostesses said we were totally fine and to come on in and enjoy our breakfast.

so no reservation needed for breakfast at ama ama then? how crowded was it, and what time of day?

I honestly can't remember what time we went, maybe 9:30? This was last May on a weekday, so somewhat "off season". It was dead, only a handful of tables. Not sure why it was so dead. I was surprised that the prices weren't too much more compared to the quickservice at Ulu cafe, yet you get so much more in terms of obviously service, ambiance, attention to detail etc. I think a kids meal was only $1 more, I got french toast for $15.

I didn't make a reservation. It was empty when I went, but it was in March so not sure if that made a difference. Early mornings are pretty quiet around the resort.

Soak up as much time as you can at the spa. I tried all the showers and tubs. Lounging around afterwards was so peaceful. I appreciated all the bathroom items. They had everything you need.

I'm very excited about the spa! I have 4 different appointments for myself while we are there. Between me and the other 17 people in our group they're gonna be busy that week LOL.
