I am English but have heard of a binky or dinky for the baby...what is it? I am guessing it is a comforter of some kind.

My grandmother was from England and she called it a dody - it is a pacifer - it has also been called a paci or a plug.

My English friends call it a dummy.

I've heard it called binky, suckie, paccie, and our DS called it a dody. I didn't know that was an English word for pacifier!

Binky is even a licensed, copyrighted name for a pacifier. My son loved the Binky-brand solid rubber Binky he got at the hospital when he was born. Too bad we couldn't find any when it wore out and we wanted to get another. I had to call Binky and order 5 by mail (minimum order).
