We have a waterfall that goes into our swimming pool and the backside of the waterfall is currently grass. Needless to say it is a real pain to cut, so we want to take it out and landscape it. The area is about 15' across and 4' high. I like tall grasses and am thinking about putting them on either side of the waterfall but am stumped about the backside where the grass currently is. I have thought about just planting ground cover - ajuga maybe - but wonder if I should also have some actual plants. This area is in full sun. It is a fairly steep slope right now, but we could probably change that. Any suggestions?

It's always nice to see you here, Peggy. :) Your backyard sounds wonderful already!! :)

Oldkicker posted a while ago with a similar problem. Here's the link that I gave him at the time. You might find it helpful. :)

Plants For Steep Inclines

Or, you might want to try - Terracing

Ajuga would look very pretty, but I'm a little biased, I love blue flowers! :) I think the grasses are a great idea!!

Any other suggestions for Peggy, Buds? :)

Thanks for the links Kim. I'll be off to the garden centres in the morning!

Finally got everything dug, soil amended, planted and mulched. Whew! It's always more work than you anticipate, but the results are well worth it.

What kind of plants did you end up planting on the hill.
