Landry's owned and operated

I think Landry's (who owns Bubba gumps, chart House, Landry's seafood, Rainforest Cafe, etc) owns or operates a few disney locations - I think Yak and Yeti is one. Can anyone confirm this and tell me which others they own or operate, how this set-up works, and why tdisney/landry's does it?

The 2 Rainforest Cafes, T-Rex, and Yak n Yeti. As to why they do it? I assume because it is profitable.

I believe the new Mexican places in WS are also contracted out, but not sure who runs them. Given the prices they charge I'm guessing its VERY profitable.

These reservations are done w/ Disney.... but you cannot use the dinning plan. (that was my experience 8/10)

You can use the dining plan at Yak & Yeti as well as the new places in WS Mexico.

As others have said, there are four Landry's restaurants on property - Yak & Yeti and Rainforest Cafe at Animal Kingdom, and T-Rex and Rainforest Cafe at Downtown Disney.

Why is it done? Because that seems to be the business model Disney is most interested in pursuing right now - collecting hefty rents and not dealing with any of the menu, supplier, or staffing hassles themselves. The new direction for DTD, the Flamingo Crossing project, the new World Showcase restaurants, etc. are all running along those same lines - more third party owners and no/few new Disney owned and operated venues.

Well it was $10.95 for 3 small chicken tacos and some tortilla chips at La Cantina. The tacos carne was $11.95. Does that answer your question?

I wish we had a Yak and Yeti here at home! We do have a Landry's Chart House in Annapolis, MD that is very popular (and expensive!)

I'm with you - we loved Yak & Yeti. Haven't been to Chart House though - someday (we like Lewnes Steakhouse instead for our "upscale" nights out).

There have actually been Disney restaurants operated by outside concerns for quite some time - think Mitsukoshi, Alfredo's, Fulton's, Portobello (for example).

And I won't even mention McDonalds.
