Hello,

We're thinking about a land & sea vacation at Disney World next year (with a couple extra days at the World). Anyone have any comments or input on Disney's land & sea packages?

Thanks!

Really depends on what you want to do... But you might want to price out a cruise only, your Disney hotel only and see how the pricing compares. You can buy the motorcoach transfers and not be officially "Land & Sea" packages.

You might not get a discount on the cruise, but you might find something on the room. It is my perception the 7-Day Land & Sea seems very rigid in the timing, but living in the Orlando area, I've never needed to deal with the Land part. I certinally do enjoy the Sea part.

Take me with you!!

I did it back in 2001, before 9/11. I thought it was a great introduction to both areas. Now that I think about it - I was rushed since I only had 4 days in the parks and had not been there in over 20 years. But, again - I felt for the money I was getting my $$ worth. At the time the transfers were 50 dollars each way for each person (not the magical express is free). It also included the cost of admission into the parks for the 4 days. When I added it all up - I found that I was getting park admission for free almost. The hotel was the Boardwalk (no longer on the list) and the cost per night of the hotel was high - we did a cat 7 on the Wonder.

I usually reccommend this trip to people who are unsure of Disney as adults, or alone, or never cruised.

As the prior poster mentioned - price it all out, and see if the dollars work out for you. The advantage of only having one room key for the whole trip was nice, but not necessary.

I have since done many cruises, and find that as a veteran, booking my own is less expensive, and since I use a rental car now - much easier to get to the ship earlier.

Hope that helsp some - I just found your thread...sorry for the late reply

I would definitely add days on to the land visit. I always prefer to spend a week at Disney. If we did a land/sea, I'd probably add 2 days onto a 4 day land/3 day sea trip. We've sailed NCL and Princess and like the less strict dining, never really liked traditional cruise dining. I've always wanted to try a Disney cruise, but wasn't sure about being on a ship full of children as 2 childless adults (not to mention same-sex). We'd probably try for a table for 2 for dining or go buffet.
I've been trying to learn as much as I can before making any decisions.

Still can't decide if I want to go in October or early December.

Thanks!

We have been on many Disney Cruises and love it. If you are only adults you typically end up in a dining rotation without children. If you keep to the 'adult' areas in the evenings, you typically only see children during the stage shows. And YES, you need to see them. They are amazing.

We always are nervous about the dining, not sure who we will end up with. But if you don't like your tablemates, just take the head server aside, explain the situation and they will move you. They aren't going to make you sit at a table of people you can't stand.

October is still hurricane season, but December is so busy for us we'd probably opt for October. Either way, if there is not a hurricane, the weather is nice.

Ultimately, don't worry about being a gay couple on a Disney Cruise. The staff never bats and eye, and 99% of the other passengers we have encountered didn't verbalize any thing either.

Go. Have a good time. We expect a 3-page, single-space report with pictures upon your return.

A report! Can I do a slideshow instead? I still have the one from our last cruise in April online... www.photoshow.net/wilsonmurphy

We took my parents for their 50th anniversary; it was our 16th anniversary.

Great pics!! Thanks for sharing. You are a very nice looking couple!

I guess... Since you provided a sample and all. Hazy is right, you are a good looking couple. And it looks like your parents and you were having a blast!

That was a great slide show. I really enjoyed seeing the ship and give me some idea of how big the two new Disney ships will be.

Consider taking the May, 2008 Panama Canal cruise!!

That cruise is sold out...

Thanks. We had a great time. I worked a part-time job to pay for that cruise. The 'entertaining friends' pictures were the few who showed up for the LGBT gathering they scheduled on the cruise. I had to ask them to schedule it and not many showed up (probably because it was at a bad time and location). There were many more gay couples on board.

Definitely would like to try a Disney Land & Sea vacation. I see they now offer the dining plan as an option.
