land/sea vs booking separately

I am planning a trip in July 2005 for me and my ds11,ds10. We plan on spending 4 days at Disney World first and then 3 days on the Wonder Cruise. I have been told that I should book my room separately (with the AAA rate) and if the regular room rate is lowered later then I can always switch to the lower rate. But, if I buy the land/sea together then I could not do this. I am just starting to price things out. Has anyone compared costs and benefits of booking together vs separately? Also, if I booked separately would I have to facter in transporation costs for the three of us ( that would already be included in the land/sea package)?

For our honeymoon in Sept. we booked everything seperate. We were able to get a great rate on the resort and the cruise. This gave us the option to have a 4 and 4 rather than 3 land and 4 sea. We used a towncar service and loved it. By booking seperate you have more flexability, but it will involve alot more searching for deals. I suggest you go through DU or allseas and see what their price for the land and sea is. July is peak season I believe so deals might be hard to find. Just get quotes for it all and then see which one is the better deal.

We visited WDW and cruised with Wonder two times, and both times we booked the land and sea portions separately. We stayed in WDW three days before the cruise and two days after the cruise. We rented a car instead of using DCL transportation. Saved $$ and had a lot of flexibility that way.

I read two travel guides - one was Passporter. Both recommended doing it seperately and thats what we did.
