Land/Sea Trip Report - I *Promise* to Inform and *Hope* to Entertain!

Well Crystal. We were doing soo well. But now...
You see ... I'm for Boston so I've gotta put in a - Go Pats!:woohoo:
And I LOVE Soarin’!
But I'm going to say -
one "opposites attract"
two "It takes all kinds to keep the (Disney) world spinning!"
:flower3:

I'm from Boston also so, GO PATS!!!!!!!! My girls just look adorable right now sporting their Tom Brady Jersey's.

I love Epcot, so I agree with you, it is a great theme park.

 Does it help that my heart *really* belongs to the Broncos? Not that they have a chance in the world until they get a new quarterback, but... Now, about Soarin', I'll admit that perhaps I blamed it for being all out of FastPasses when we visited?? I just thought that we'd breeze in to Epcot for EMH and roll right along to everything we wanted. Now I know the error of my ways!

Yup - we have slotted 2 full days at Epcot for our next trip and I plan on really getting to know Epcot since I've always (mistakenly) shunned it. I bet your girls looked adorable in their jerseys!

My land/sea is in 2 weeks!:cool1:

YAY - enjoy!!!! :yay:

I'm so bummed! I highly doubt you are going to get to your cruise portion of this TR before our own cruise! I'll have to catch up when we get back! I guess I'll just have to experience it for myself!

Awwww, see I'm the very reason lawyers (and their affiliates) get bad reputations. It's just a habit to be as wordy as possible - LOL - it gives some credibility to the rumor that lawyers get paid by the word. Oh well, have a magical trip and when you get back, we'll all have another Land/Sea TR to enjoy. :woohoo:

Since DH had an early morning tee time at the Magnolia Golf Course, today was to be a Girls’ morning for me and The Big at MK. I had made an 8:05 a.m. ADR at Crystal Palace (with the characters from Pooh) and, after that, my plan was to have no plan and just go with the flow.

Well, I hate to be negative, but I’m just going to go ahead and say it: I will never set foot in Crystal Palace again. First of all, check in was hectic (CP definitely needs to take some suggestions from Cindy’s). Second, upon getting seated, I inquired with our waiter when we could expect the characters. He told me to get our food now and they would be to our table soon. So, we rushed to the buffet and quickly sat back down. We finally saw Pooh and Eeyore after about 30 minutes. Since we had not yet seen Piglet and Tigger I asked our waiter when we could expect them and he said he would try and get them “back” to us. Whaaaat? Since it took us all of about a minute to get our food, I didn’t quite understand how we missed them the first time, but I wasn’t about to argue with the man. Piglet did eventually make it “back” to us but we never did see Tigger.

The character visits just seem so random at Crystal Palace – it just seems like there should be a better system. Also, my sweet Big also managed to dump an entire parfait glass of syrup on her, so she ended up a sticky mess by the time we left. The one positive is that the food was really good, but certainly not good enough to deal with the craziness.

After leaving CP, my dilemma was whether or not to run back to the Poly and change The Big’s clothes (yes, the syrup was literally all over her) or simply to try and buy some clothes for her at MK. Since The Big wanted to ride Barnstormer, I decided to just try and find something at MK for her to change into. Since Toon Town didn’t open until 10:00 a.m., we bided our time riding the Teacups, the Speedway, and Pooh, and finally The Big’s crème de la crème: Barnstormer. Her enthusiasm for this coaster hadn’t diminished one bit, and it was so fun to be able to share that with her. Again and again. I finally dragged her off the thing and managed to snap a few of Mickey’s and Minnie’s houses before getting back on the Barnstormer again.

Finally, I convinced her that there are other fun things to do, and we rode the Haunted Mansion (which she loved) and BTMR. We also found Pirates of the Caribbean while searching for a bathroom, which was very cool. The Big actually loved Pirates as well, even though, technically, it’s a water ride and even though she got splashed a bit (that’s a toddler for ya).

By this time, I was sure that DH should be wrapping up his golf game, and, since I had yet to find any suitable replacement clothes, we headed toward the monorail. I was craving a nap, so The Big and I snuggled ourselves into bed and drifted into dreamland. Unfortunately for MY nap, DH chose this point to return from golfing.

To all of those golfers out there, DH was very impressed with the Magnolia. He said it was the longest course he’d ever played and that it was the most beautiful, but that the greens were over-watered. Whatever that means. Since I was still groggy, my dear DH decided that he was going to do a load of laundry while I napped. I had evidently managed to disregard the fact that it was going to be in the 80s all week, and it was clear that we were running out of shorts.

Fortunately, I was able to pick my nap up right back up where I left off. :upsidedow

Super report! :) I didn't realize you could check in for the cruise from your Disney hotel. Thanks for sharing! Can't wait to hear the cruise part of your report!

But no shot of The Big with The Pig?;)

Thank you Snowwhite - it's coming soon - I promise.

But no shot of The Big with The Pig?;)

:rotfl:  :rotfl2: Just for good measure, I'll throw in a :worship: too!

Unfortunately, dear Piglet didn't even stand a chance - he was just way too smiley, and The Big was having none of that after she spilled the syrup on herself. Sweet Eeyore, though, saved the day with his sweet little hug. *HE* understood the trials and tribulations my pooooorrrr Big was "going through" at that moment and, Lord knows, a little bit of empathy goes a looonnnnggg way with toddlers.

I'm big :lovestruc on the Pig and Tig

Love your trip report! The pictures are too cute!! Can't wait to hear about the cruise!!!:thumbsup2

Wallyb, are you saying that you totally *dig* the Pig and the Tig??? Would that be considered a big dig on the Pig and Tig? :rotfl:

Thank you for reading jblb - I think I only have one more park installment and then it's on to the cruise!

Yikes :scared1: ... Don't say Big Dig to a Bostonian!

Hi Crystal! Just wanted to drop in here and let you know that I'm all caught up on reading your TR! I'm loving it so far!!
I do have to say that I am sad that you didn't like Crystal Palace. It's my all-time fave. Of course, a lot of it has to do with the fact that Poohpooh: is my ultimate fave. I know this sounds silly, but I could care less about the food...I've always thought the character interaction was great. I do agree though, that you have to be careful about the characters, or you can miss them very easily. Usually when we go, we try and spot what area they are in before we hit the buffet, and then go from there.
Well, anyway...as I said your report is awesome, and I can't wait to read more!

Great Trip Report! I love the photos you have posted, what kind of camera are you using? I only wish I could take pictures like you do! Thanks for the great entertainment while reading the report, looking forward to many more!

Hey Missy! Glad you could pop over! I should never say never about CP - I actually keep coming back to it as a possible ADR choice for our trip this year. I figure at this point I already have the autographs for my scrapbook, so I would only need to go back for the yummy food. Anyway, typical planning stuff - once I get something that works, I discover something else that might work better. Talk to you soon!

Thank you, Disnut. Since I'm such a photography nut, it's always so nice to hear compliments about my pictures. :lovestruc To answer your question, I use an Olympus E-500 which is a dSLR camera. Most of the pictures in my TR were taken with my prize lens, the Zuiko 50mm lens. I also shoot in RAW format which means that it takes about 2-3 minutes to "develop" each of my pictures on the computer, but the efforts yields a "lossless" result.

Olympus has a lot of strenghs (awesome lenses, smaller/lighter cameras, wonderful saturated colors, a dustbuster so I don't have to clean the sensor, etc.) but it's one big weakness is that it does not shoot well in high ISO situations (lots of grain). I'm hoping that DH will upgrade my camera for my birthday (or even Mother's Day - LOL) becuase the newer generation of Olympus dSLRs are much, much better with high ISOs. Anyway, I could ramble for days about photography since I love it so much. If you ever have any other questions, please feel free to post them. And thanks again for reading my TR!
