We picked the Poly, but here are our choices:

Deluxe Resorts
Disney's Beach Club Resort
Disney's Polynesian Resort
Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge Resort
Walt Disney World Swan and
Walt Disney World Dolphin

Animal Kingdom lodge looks great, but it's too far from MK and other parks...

Anyone have a preference for any of these and why?

Thanks!

Kim

PS Want to keep planning and planning...

WE ARE GOING ON OUR LAND/SEA IN 2 WEEKS AND WE PICKED THE BEACH CLUB. WE WANTED THE POLY WHICH WAS AN OPTION, HOWEVER THE POLY WAS ALREADY SOLD OUT. WE MADE OUR RESSIES TOO LATE, JANUARY OF THIS YEAR. SO GREAT FOR YOU PLANNING EARLY AND GETTING YOUR FIRST CHOICE WHICH I THINK IS A GOOD ONE.

I like the Beach Club for its awesome pool complex. The Stormalong Bay is by far the best on property! Also, I like the convenient access to both MGM and Epcot . It's so great to walk right out and to the resort immediately after Illuminations and not be stuck in the crowds. I think the character breakfast at the Cape May Cafe is the best, although I haven't tried the one at O'Hanas so I can't compare the two. I like the ambience of the lake area and the boardwalk, as well as having the mini golf course nearby. There are Lots of really excellent restaurants nearby, plus the Epcot ones of course. I think you can't really go wrong with any of the duluxe resorts. Enjoy!

:sunny: I picked the AKL for the land portion of the L/S. I have stayed at CRB (epcot) that was nice to. Did AKL this time. I wanted to be able to go out on the balcony and have coffee and watch the animal in the savannah. The pool looks great to.

Picked the Beach Club last time & thought it was FANTASTIC! Our new favorite resort, although we love them all. I would pick the Poly as my very close runner-up.::yes::

Ditto. Fantastic location. Nice pool. Only drawback, no food court for quick meals. They do open the bar next to Cape May for morning continental treats, but it more resembled a cattle call than anything. Not good when all you want is the much needed coffee! But that was the ONLY drawback.

We picked AKL as oldest son REALLY wanted it. We will enjoy sitting on our balcony watching the giraffs. ::yes::

We just stayed at the Beach Club last month...we love it there...we have stayed there and the poly many times and as much as I love the Poly with it's tropical theme....I prefer the beach club a bit more due to it's convenience to both MGM and Epcot....

Here are some pics of the pool at Beach Club...I have both night and day pics.

The pool complex goes on and on....with a lazy river section, a sandy bottom section, a whirlpool section, etc. It is one of the best pools on WDW property!!

I booked back in Nov '02 for our August '04 land/sea vacation and I chose the Wilderness Lodge ... it's no longer a DCL resort, AKL was substituted, but DCL let me stay there. I'm taking the grandkids and like the fact it's close to MK.

For the land portion, we chose Port Orleans because we are seldom in our rooms (two adults, no children with us). We receiving an upgrade to the Poly. What a wonderful surprise.

Memaw2wm: When did WL become a non-Disney resort? I was just there last summer.

We split ours up and are staying at the WL. Was cheaper, too! :hyper:

We chose the Beach Club because we have already stayed at the Poly and we want to stay in a different hotel each Disney trip.

The WL is still a Disney property but it is no longer being offered as part of the Land/Sea package.

DL_DCA - I know - We split it up and booked the WL through CRO.

The Swan and Dolphin are also not WDW properties. Thus, no KTTW cards. That means a double check in. Once at the resort and once at port!!! We like the beach club.....

We had category 6 and went with the Poly as well. I was very impressed with the Poly and highly recommend the Character breakfast at Ohanas.
If I did this again I would go with AKL which allows you savannah view rooms with the package (no lagoon view with the land/sea). AKL was not yet available when I booked the land/sea.

Thank you for all of your responses. I wish they still offered WL for one of the options, but they substituted AKL, which is not as close to the parks we want to visit.

YOu know, half the fun of the trip is the planning!!!

I will ck out the other resorts and really appreciate your insight.

We did land/sea back in May and stayed at Beach Club. It was INCREDIBLE! The location, the rooms with balconies, the pool, the service... all of it was above and beyond my expectations.

It's still a Disney resort, just not DCL resort for the land/sea package.
