Hey guys. :) Doing our first cruise next year and it'll be a land/sea with 4 days being the sea. We wanted to add enough days to make sure we get each of the parks in so we'll add 2 days on at least (arrival day never counts because we always miss so much on off season). For the vets out there that have combined a WDW vacay w/ a cruise, would you add them al up front or would you do some beofere and a few after? Will we even feel like it after? Will that affect my rates on tickets and packages? I'm SO not keeping up on the ever changing packages and how tickets and add ons work. It blows my mind and I just plain don't have much of it left! One thing... I'm for sure not doing them all after. SO that's one option down. :goodvibes

THANKS! :lovestruc

Have you already reserved the cruise?

If yes, then I think your best bet to save money on the tickets is upgrade the number of days while on your land portion, then use them after the cruise. Since you will not get your package tickets until the first day of your land portion, you would have to have 2 separate bookings to add days on before the cruise. Since the first few days on tickets cost the most, that can run your price up quickly.

If you have not already booked your cruise, I would look into booking each portion separately. In doing that, you will have more choices as to which cat on the ship and at the resorts. You can also do as many days at WDW as you choose, while getting the multi-day discounts.

Good luck!

I agree with this...if you are adding days before you cruise you won't get your land package until the first day of the land part and thus would be on your own for tickets...adding days to your land part for after your cruise will save you money...so reserve some days for your return....that is what we are doing...

I would suggest that you book WDW and the cruise individually. If you stay with the same resort you can still use DCL transport to the port and back to the Airport. Price it out both ways and see if this isn't just a little less.

Remember that DCL Transport only leaves from the resorts used by the land and sea package. If you do the individually you can decide to do WDW after the cruise. This is very much an individual decision. It should not be difficult to covert you current booking.

I agree with booking seperately. You have so many more options when doing it this way. And it works out cheaper in most cases. :)

Gosh! So much to think about! We've booked for early November next year already but it's so far in advance we can change anything at the moment. Usually I'm a book everything seperate gal, I'm not sure why I didn't do it this time. Still can though. :goodvibes THANKS for the advice so far. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Oh and extra info that might matter. We're traveling with my mother and our 2 sons one of which will turn 2 on the cruise. We need a veranda because I'm really claustrophobic so 2 rooms in this case probably wouldn't be cheaper than 1. BUT I could look. :surfweb:

But you could go with the higher cat on the ship, then stay at POR (5 people) and still save some money. Booking separate, you may be able to take advantage of a room discount or code closer to your trip, as they seem plentiful in Nov.

I might be wrong but I think you have to pay an additional fee to do the DCL transport...that is one of the reasons we decided to drive...

No, you are right there is a cost for the DCL transport but there is a cost no matter how one gets to the port. If you rent a car you pay, if you drive your own car you pay to park, if you take DCL you pay. Each person has to weigh how much each cost and what option is best for them. Most often I have taken DCL due to the ease, This trip, so I can be picked up at POP Century, I am using FL tours to the port and DCL to the airport. Many options for everyone. Can make deciding what to do difficult.

I think the charge of DCL is like 79 a person.....we have 3 people so it will prolly end up being less then that for gas and parking but I could see where you might come out ahead if you only had one person...

Actually, the price is $35 per person, one way. I'm paying $70 for the DCL transfer from the airport to the port, and then from the portal to POP Century.

Well considering we would need a ride there and back...I think it will cost us less the 210 for the 3 of us to drive and park....How much is parking now?
