We are trying to find some new things to do on our next DL trip. Nobody in our group has done Lamplight. We'll have two adults, the moms, and two 7 year olds, the daughters. Is upstairs only the lounge? Is the view good from both upstairs and downstairs?

Hi!

If I'm remembering correctly, the upstairs at Lamplight is drinks/appetizers while the downstairs features the full menu (including the kids menu). For me personally, I think the best view is downstairs along the rail. If you make a reservation, you can request a specific spot (or just ask when you arrive). You should have a really nice view of Pixar Pier from that perspective. I would probably try more central downstairs along the railing to get the full perspective. We sat very close to the Incredicoaster once and while fun to see it go, it can get obnoxious hearing the sounds 50+ times :)

Hope that helps!

I really enjoyed sitting downstairs. Even though we didn't have a "view" it was very open and being able to hear the park atmosphere while being seated in a cool restaurant was super nice. If you go I recommend the donuts!

Can you sit in the lower outside area during the WOC?

Thanks all. I'm going to book downstairs. @gerilyne - I saw the donuts on the menu and am definitely trying those! What's the flavor on them, cinnamon and sugar?

No cinnamon. Just sugar coated. Served with raspberry puree and chocolate sauce for dipping. They are very good.

Is it quieter upstairs? My kids have sensory processing disorder.

I'm not sure if you are looking to try certain foods, or you just want to experience the restaurant. If it's for the experience, I recommend doing brunch. I haven't eaten upstairs, but I have found brunch to be less noisy than lunch or evening hours. It's still quite a bit of stimulation with everything to look at in the restaurant, but there are less people in the restaurant downstairs overall. I don't recall anyone seated at the bar, which probably helped the noise level.

We like inside, downstairs (better menu for us) during off peak times. Last time we ate downstairs during the earliest dinner hours, and it was pretty open and quiet. Outside has a nice view, but I find the IC to be really loud. Also, on sunny days, the patio area can be quite bright; so we sit inside, and I face the inner wall. Note on your reservation that your family has special needs and will need a quieter table, if available.

Its not really a loud place. I actually recommend sitting outside, downstairs. That is the most calm atmosphere. The downstairs inside can get noisy and crowded. The seats outside have better views and are more quiet because the sound dissipates.

I have 2 autistic kids, one with SPD and super sensitive hearing. He didn't need his noise protection earmuffs at an outside table downstairs at LL. My kids were bored silly, though. It is a slow service type place. So, have stuff to keep your kids busy. They didn't like any of the food items on the menu, so we got them lunch beforehand and they had the donuts while my husband and I ate our food. They loved the donuts. One order was small, though (only 5 donut holes per order) so next time we would get 2 orders.

I agree that brunch is actually the best time to go, but it's not available every day, is it? Just Fri-Sun.

The first time we went we got a rail table without asking. This time we asked for it and got the same table (or maybe one over). My wife and kids love doing this as a meal splurge because of the fun menu (kids really love the refills offered on their gigantic mug of hot chocolate with whipped cream) and the awesome view.

I tried booking but it didn't have anyplace to choose upstairs or downstairs. Is that normal ?
