Day 3 - Wednesday, Jun 25th
Got my first ever Mickey wakeup call at 6:30AM. I put it on speakerphone for everyone to hear but Im pretty sure they ignored it. I got dressed and ran down to get coffee for DH and I in our refillable mugs and grab a quick smoke. I was Mug Woman on this trip while DH got an extra 15-30 minutes of sleep each morning and woke up to hot coffee waiting for him -- so much for wearing the title proudly LOL. On the way back to the room I get a glimpse of the castle and can feel a large smile forming - get back to the room and I must have still had the stupid smile on my face cause DH asks why Im smiling and I reply - Im finally really here
Get the kids up and moving by 7:15, they eat breakfast in the room (cereal, bananas, pop tarts). We are out the door and on our way to IOA by 8AM. Paid for parking ($8) and then followed the blue painted line to the handicapped parking area in the garage. Liked that the van would be in the shade all day. Walked from the garage to the ticket window, stopped and purchased our Military Salute passes and are on our way in by the time the park opens at 9AM.
Our first ride was Spiderman and I have to say it was everything I heard. We all loved it. From there we headed to Hulk - the ride Jackie (Coaster girl) had been most looking forward to. Hulk is accessible to handicapped persons but only through the express pass line and then through the exit. This is because there are stairs that lead up to the loading area. The guide for disabilities does not mention this - the ride attendant at the entrance is the one who directed us the correct way. Jackie was in heaven on this ride, she absolutely loved it.
Jackie needed to use the restroom so while she did that David and LT went back on Spiderman using the single riders line. They ended up in the same car and said it wasnt as good the second time because they knew what to expect. After the restroom break we headed to Seuss Landing. We rode Cat in the Hat and the Caro-Seuss-al and then had lunch at Circus McGurkus Café Stoo-pendous. David and DH shared a pepperoni pizza with an extra order of bread sticks and LT and Jackie shared a cheese pizza. We also had cake and jello. I didnt really eat because I was not hungry and Id been drinking water all morning although I did manage a couple of bites of the cake. The crowds so far appeared to be very light in both lands we visited. That was about to change .
From there we headed back to The Lost Continent to hit the other two roller coasters Jackie was dying to try - the Dueling Dragons. Here is where we saw how crowded the park really was. It appeared to be wall-to-wall people. Walked over to the ride and again we had to enter through the express line and then go to the exit of the ride. They have a room for baby swap participants and we waited in there. We rode Fire first and then immediately walked over the Ice exit and rode that one also. Again the guide didnt give directions on how to enter - check with the attendant at the entrance.
Our next stop was Jurassic Park. We headed right over to the River Adventure and waited approximately 45 minutes to ride. This line is completely handicapped accessible. None of us was really impressed with the ride and by this time (around 4PM) were getting pretty tired and hot. We stopped in the JP Discovery Center just to cool off and get out of the sun for a little while. From there we headed to Toon Lagoon but decided by unanimous vote not to do any of the rides. The lines were very long, the express passes long gone and we just didnt want to get wet so we packed it in and left. Now Im pretty organized or at least I thought I was until this trip. One of the things I wanted to do was check out the Disney Outlet stores Id read so much about. Dummy me - forgot to bring the directions. Thats okay I thought, I know they are at the Belz Outlet mall on International Drive. So I tell DH to head to International Drive and well stop at the mall. Drove all the way back to WDW on International Drive and never saw the mall (find it later on Monday). By now the kids are hungry so we stopped at Wendys for dinner. On our way back to the hotel we decided it was a good time to check out AKL so stopped. It was just starting to get dark so we hurried out to see the animals. There was a CM with night vision goggles, which DH thought were cool. We walked around a little bit, browsed the gift shop (LT purchased her lanyard) and then headed back to the CR. Now last night when I told the kids that we planned on being in bed early (9:30-10PM) every night both my niece and son laughed out loud. Ha, I had the last laugh. (And dont I just love being right They didnt even take time to shower and both crashed by 10PM. The rest of us took showers and baths and joined them in slumber land by 11PM. Coming tomorrow - Universal Studios.
