I posted this on another thread a while back and still dnt have my answer. Now I saw another person ask the same question, so I'm starting a thread.

Has anyone tried to laminate their paper Parkhopper tickets and had problems/no problems gaining admission?
:scratchin

No, I haven't tried. Sounds like a good idea, but I'd worry that it would affect your ability to get FPs if you laminated them.

Like Smiles, I'd worry about putting them in the fp machines if they were laminated.

As others have said, it could affect the FP machines, and the magnetic strip when entering the parks, too. There are laminated card HOLDERS that would do the trick just as well. :thumbsup2

Somebody on these boards told me that the "paper" that they use for the tickets isn't really paper...it's made of a material that is much more tear resistant than regular paper. I've never had a problem with a ticket tearing, and would think Disney would make sure they are sturdy enough to last through several days use.

We used our park hoppers a lot during our 3 days. In and out of my purse's pocket for park hopping and several fp machines. After all that, the tip have nary a rip, tear, wrinkle, fray, or bend. They ARE sturdy.

Just to keep them safe, I keep our ParkHoppers in a small waterproof snack size ziplock bag.

I find it intereting that Disney doesn't use the "credit card@ type of tickets for PH's that they at WDW. Less chance of a ticket tearing and they worked on the FP machines. I'm sure there's a method to their madness.

I would be worried that they wouldn't scan right or the ticket takers would question it.

The park hoppers you buy at the grocery store are plastic if you are that worried about them tearing.

You still have to trade in the plastic cards for the park hopper "paper" tickets unfortunately anyway. We've never had a problem with ours tearing either in all the years we've been. :thumbsup2

We use the lanyards with the zipper pouch and take pics of all the tickets before we leave. We haven't had any problems loosing or ripping our tickets and we have 6 at any time. if I'm on a ride I think my lanyard might move a lot I put it inside my shirt. :goodvibes

They use Tyvek paper and it is very strong. I've never had an issue with park hoppers tearing. If you did have an issue then they would replace them without issue.

Laminating is probably not a good idea, not sure how you would get FPs. The parkhoppers are not ordinary paper and they can stand up to a lot.

Also, those credit card type of tickets are not exchanged at the gate. So if you buy the credit card type tickets through AAA or at the grocery store or Disney store, etc. you keep those. You take them directly to the turnstile and use them. If you buy an eticket through Disneyland.com, you print out a piece of paper with a barcode on it and those you do exchange for parkhoppers at the turnstile.

So, I wouldn't worry about them. Have fun! :thumbsup2

You can get them depending on where you buy your tickets. They are no better or worse than the Tyvek tickets.

And since the Disneyland APs have been on plastic for a long time, I can tell you that those aren't any better. They demagnetize VERY quickly, because Disney uses cheapie magnet strips. At WDW their APs are Tyvek, and my Year of the AP at WDW was fine, because the strip on the "paper" held up better than any of my now-3 DLR APs did.

We use lanyard pouches most often. No need to "deface" the tickets by laminating them.

Wow! That is interesting! We actually did have to trade in our plastic store ones for paper tickets! Strange! I wonder why they let you keep the platics sometimes?? odd! lol

I will say that they don't hold up well in the washer and dryer though. :headache: :laundy: :rolleyes1

ETA If you take a picture or making a photocopy of the back of your tickets, you can easily get replacements. I hadn't done this, but UndercoverTourist had my back. This time I know. And, I'm not booking a room with a washer/dryer. ;)
