laminate hardwood flooring...

I guess the less expensive type that looks like hardwood but is laminate....anyone put this on an outdoor covered screened in porch, or is that not a good idea? Thanks

I'm assuming that by a screened-in porch, you mean that there aren't any windows and that it isn't climate controlled. If that's the case, I don't think that laminates would be a good option. From what I understand, laminate floors are very sensitive to moisture. If rain came into the porch, it could cause the floor to bubble. Even just the high humidity in Florida that would result in a room without air conditioning could potentially be a problem.

I guess it will have to be some sort of porcelin tile, then. My husband said the wood wouldn't work, but I wanted a second opinion!

I wouldn't use laminate. We put it in our kitchen due to kids, 70 lb dog and lots of toys being pulled across it. We've had it for 4 years and I've begged DH to replace it for 3 years 11 monthes. Last year, we had a power outage for several days, the ice in the icemaker melted and drained out on/thru the floor, there is a slight buckle in the floor under the refrigerator. It's a VERY loud floor. We have a covered (not screened in) porch upstairs off of our bedroom, we put outdoor tile up there and it has stood up very well, through ice, rain, snow, etc. We bought the tile at a tile store, not a home improvement store, I would really check into it and not go with something just because it's a bargain. We have a screened in and an open deck. Both just have regular wood planking. Why wouldn't you just use that?
