Some friends of ours just installed a laminate flooring. It looks good and the prices seem too good to be true ( as in cheaper than the other options we were looking at for the room we are thinking of)! Does anyone have them, would you recommend them? Just curious! Thanks!

We have Pergo laminate flooring in oak color in our formal living room and hall and a white washed color in our kitchen and dining room. We love it. It looks great and since we have a german shepard, we don't worry about him scratching the floors. It holds up to everything.

We are purchasing a new home which has real hard wood floors and we plan on changing them to Pergo.

We recently installed pergo in our kitchen. We previously had vinyl flooring (blech!) -- I love the pergo... we chose the lighter whitewashed oak shade (don't know the correct name of it) -- and I have noticed that everything shows up on it --- if I were to do it over, I may have chosen a darker shade -- we were told you have to use specific pergo flooring cleaner to mop the floor -- which effectively put my swiffer out of use -- which I loved more than a mop. Overall, I do like the laminate. You get the look and feel of a hardwood and a much more reasonable price.

We are thinking of putting laminate floors in our home. I am so tired of steam cleaning the carpet and now we have stains that won't come up. My SIL and a friend of mine have laminate floors and they love them. The flooring even makes their rooms look bigger. Well, to me they look bigger.

If we get the laminate floors we are thinking of putting them in ourselves. My DH has already taken a class at Home Depot and I think we can do it ...... I hope we can do it.

We have had Pergo in our house for 7 years and really like it a lot. The only problem (we have in kitchen, foyer and powder room) is that if the kids drop something really heavy it will ding. It is great with the dog and kids running through -- looks almost as good as it did when it was installed. It is VERY easy to do -- we did it ourselves twice. (In our old house you needed to glue the pieces, now they just snap together -- much easier).

I also do not use the special pergo floor cleaner. I use either vinegar and water (like hardwood) or I use muy Chlorox Ready mop, the box says it is safe on laminate floors.

In our last house we had installed some laminated flooring, and were planning on the remainder.
We first did two bathrooms and a heavy traffic hall area. (off from the garage, in the laundry area and one of the bathrooms)
We did really like it.
The noise takes some getting use to, You hear that clickety clack sound with every step taken. It reminded me of those old horror flicks when you hear furniture scraping and footsteps overhead. ;) Area rugs would help that.
We installed Formica brand, with the look of ceramic tiles, and we happy with the looks and clean up.

We have had Armstrong brand laminate flooring in our Family Room & Dining Room for about 5-6 years.

We have active kids, big dogs, lots of cats and furniture & it still looks great. Practically no wear, if any shows, & it cleans up great.
