We have a two week trip coming up in August, and were considering a visit to Lake Eola Park. We try to visit someplace new (or two) on each vacation, and this is one place we have yet to go. And they have swan paddle boats....need I say more? :rotfl:

Is it worth a visit? Anyone been?

I have never been Gina, but read they have a Farmers Market each Sunday so may be worth going on a Sunday?

We too like to try somewhere different, and have been to Blue Spring State Park (you can take a boat trip and see manatees in the Spring in winter), Lake Louisa state park followed by a visit to the orange grove you went to, Winter Park and downtown Kissimmee to name a few!

Hopefully you'll get a few more places now that you own at the Vistana, will keep an eye out for your next TR :) I can't wait for the picture of you all in the paddle boat ;)

Thanks for the tip on the Farmers Market :thumbsup2 . I love the fresh southern produce..........their fruit is always to die for :worship: .

Blue Springs is def. on my to-do list for our next winter trip (whenever that may be :rolleyes2). I would love to see the manatees in their natural habitat.

My DS is alreay appalled that I would want the requisite number of photos of the family in the swan :rotfl: . His GF, though, is coming with us this trip and she thinks it sounds adorable....so he can't even complain about it :rotfl2: .

I work in Downtown Orlando, so feel qualified to answer this question. :) Lake Eola is really nice, although there's not much to do other than walk around the lake and do the paddle boats. (Or hit the farmer's market if you go on the right day.) As long as you don't expect an ice skating rink or petting zoo like in Central Park, you should enjoy it. :)

Actually, if you're going to be there and pay for parking anyway, you might as well walk around all of Downtown. It's not very large and there's not that much to see, but it's worth it to experience at least once. They just put in these art installations around Downtown that are pretty nice. You could also visit the History Center.

Thanks for the input, Nancy! I very much appreciate a local sharing their thoughts :) .

I think we'll try and schedule in a visit on a Sunday (Mother Nature permitting, of course). Might be a nice place for a peaceful stroll after we've become sick of the crowds at the outlet mall ;) . Then we can pick up some fresh fruit and veggies at the Farmers Market for our evening meal.

I am quite certain that neither of my guys would be engaged by the art installations.....*sigh* :rolleyes1 . Not much for art and culture, those two.

We just got back last friday. We did the segway tour at Blue Springs. It was great. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 We stopped and saw the manatees a a few locations. Our guide Mathew was great.

I love that area. Its true there isnt much to do other than walk around, or ride the swan boats. Sometimes the do special events/concerts.

Near by is Thornton Park and some other areas that you can get easily to that have good restaurants, etc.

If I ever move back to Orlando, Id love to live near here.
