I LOVE the perfume in the shop in Norway!! On our trip in August, I treated myself and bought it (with matching lotion too). I've had several compliments on the fragrance.
Funny thing is...I don't know how to pronounce the name when I tell people about it.

Is it (LAY-la) or (LIE-la)??

Thanks!

"Geir Ness is the designer and creator of Laila (pronounced Lila). Born and raised in Norway, Geir takes an extremely active role in the promotion of this first international Norwegian fragrance. After doing some fragrance modeling, Geir was asked if there would ever be a fragrance from his homeland. This inspired Geir to create one.

As a little boy, Geir’s mother would take him up into the mountains of Norway where they would pick beautiful wildflowers. Even as a child, he was so taken by the beauty of that experience. Years later, in school, Geir needed some extra money, so he worked weekends promoting perfumes. Although he always had an appreciation for fragrance, he knew nothing about the industry. Barely able to speak English, people would ask where he was from followed by the question of why Norway/Scandinavia never produced a perfume. Geir’s research began.

In time, Geir found a perfumer who advised him to begin his search by finding ingredients he liked. Of course, Norwegian wildflowers were the first thing that came to mind. He remembered that wonderful childhood experience when he would go to the mountains. He gathered flowers and herbs and brought them to the perfumer to create an oil that captured their true scent.

Geir feels that the consumer’s opinion is the best way to help create a successful product. So, he went to the streets to ask people what they thought of the fragrance, wrote down their comments, went back to the perfumer, made appropriate changes and spent years perfecting the final result. After adding a touch of watermelon to the formula, the response was sensational. Laila was described as fresh, clean and crisp. Laila was now….perfect!!!

Although many people discouraged Geir from pursuing his dream, he never gave up. He borrowed money from a friend, maxed out his credit card and produced only 1,000 bottles. At first, he got Laila into one store, sold out after one hour and put people on a waiting list. He knew he had a winner and did whatever he had to do to raise more money. He sold his clothes at garage sales, sat in TV audiences to make $20 a day, odd jobs here and there. Little by little it started to pay off. He was so sure that Laila was destined for success, he stayed focused on his goal.

Laila got it’s name because this fragrance means so much to Geir. He copied his Mom’s signature without her knowing it, had it silk screened on the bottle and surprised her with it on Mother’s Day. The little boy who went with his mom to the mountains years ago, was now able to thank her for her love and inspiration.

Laila is the true essence of Norway, beauty, freshness and woman."

WOW goodfood4ursoul, that was an answer!:worship::worship:

Very interesting story. Makes me even more glad I bought the perfume.

Do you know how long he will be there? I'll be in Epcot Friday and plan to buy a bottle. Went last yr for thanksgiving with mom, he was there and I have been telling her about this amazing perfume and how when I go through the shop it makes me think of her. Well she smelt the perfume and loved it! It's all she'll wear now and I would love to buy her another bottle while he is there. He was so sweet last time.

I also love it. I actually wore it on my wedding day. Every time I spray it on myself, it reminds me of disney and I get a ton of compliments. I will be picking up a new bottle later this year when my husband and I head down to disney.

I'm interested to smell this! I'll check it out when we are there. How much is it?

I'm not one to wear perfume often, but am looking for something to wear when the urge hits.

My mom bought Laila on our last trip- every time she wears it she goes "Do I smell like Norway?!" lol The truth is she does- and it makes me really happy! I get transported to WDW every time. I may have to get some for myself.

If I recall correctly the 3.5 oz bottle is somewhere in the $75 range. There is a smaller bottle but I forget how much it is.

Mmmmm...one of my favorites :)

I have two perfumes that bring back fond memories: Halloween (when I wear it it reminds DH of when we were dating ;) ) and Laila. I don't wear it TOO often but if I'm in the mood for booking a trip, it sends hidden messages to DH. Almost like clockwork he brings up that it is time to book another trip. Sometimes it backfires...we werent planning any other trips this year but I wore it last month and POOF! We are going this Christmas :santa:.

You guys are so lucky you can wear it. I wanted to buy some but decided to test a sample on my wrist first.

I'm glad I did because about 15 minutes later it smelled awful on me. I love the smell but it doesn't love me! :rotfl:

Hmmmmmmm....I wonder if that would work on my DH? Gotta run and spritz myself!!:cutie:

I have been wearing Laila for years! I first smelled it in World Showcase and I just HAD to have it! Been hooked for years, I love it. :lovestruc
