Laila Perfume from shop in Norway

Laila is one of my favorites, too! I will never forget the first time I discovered it ... it was a typically hot and humid WDW day and we had been at the park all day. We were tired and more than a little hot and sweaty. As we approached the Norway area (we started the world showcase on the opposite side ... Canada) I made a beeline for the shop in the hopes of being able to cool off a bit. As I entered the shop I was struck with the cleanest, freshest fragrance I could imagine! Just being around it made me feel clean and fresh! I saw the fragrance display and the rest is history! I always buy a bottle or two when I am there and will purchase online or at Nordstroms in between. Love it!

I love this scent too. I have a little story about Geir Ness. We were in Epcot last year, the Friday after Thanksgiving. And while going through the gift shop I stopped to spritz myself with the tester, as I always do when we are there. Just as I was doing so Geir approached me and started telling me all about the parfume and then he grabbed my hand and started putting lotion on it, telling me all about the scent and that he'd recently been to Fashion Week in NYC. He was going on and on. I knew it was him because I've heard reports that he is there from time to time. DH and my boys were passing through and DH gave me the strangest look and exited the shop. Now you have to know my DH to understand that he is not a jealous guy at all, and the look on his face was priceless. Then my mom passes and gives me the same strange look. When I exited the shop they were like "Who the heck was that?". Not at all in a jealous or mean way, more in a teasing way. DH, my mom and myself laughed about it for a good while. Everytime one of us would think about it we'd start to laugh. I kept picturing them in my head, one after the other, walking past me, not saying a word, but their expressions were worth a thousand.

I'll be at Akershus for my 40th birthday dinner next month and
I'm hoping hubby will get the hint and buy me some Laila.
The last time we rode Maelstrom he promised we would
plan our Norway trip and actually go by 2014. (my dream :cloud9:)
then he bought me the Norwegian Cookbook, this year he can buy me Laila :goodvibes

This is the only perfume I wear. I buy a bottle at Epcot every year (and pray it doesn't break in the suitcase!). The Nordstrom closest to my house (2.5 hour drive) stopped selling it. I am looking forward to picking up another bottle next month!

Me too- I wear it (almost) everyday- this year I bought my usual bottle, but DH also surprised me with a bottle of bulgari perfume from Italy. They both smell awesome, but the bulgari starts to wear off really quickly. I get by far the most compliments on the Laila.:lovestruc

I loveeeee that perfume too!! :lovestruc haven't bought it yet though.

I've never smelled Laila before, but from all of your rave reviews, I just ordered some from ebay. They're selling 10 .5 ml sample bottles for $11.99 plus shipping. I figure if I don't like it, I"m only out $17.00, and if I do like it, I can buy a bottle when I go next month. Hope it lives up to all the hype! Can't wait to smell it!

I'm not sure how long he was in Epcot, but I did go back a couple of days later and bought a bottle. He was still there on Thursday, but I didn't notice when he was leaving :(. He gave me a hand massage :lovestruc and told me that he had just been selected to be the official fragrance for the Grammys this year. He is making baskets up to give celebrities and you get a sample of the "parfum", which is stronger than the bottle he sells at Norway, when you make a purchase. I bought the bottle and he signed the sample, the bigger bottle, AND the box for me. He was so nice. He also gave me 2 of those little bitty tubes of Laila and also of Geir, his mens fragrance. I hadn't smelled that one before so he let me smell it on his neck...:lovestruc... I really liked him.

ALSO, about the pronunciation. I asked him specifically because of this thread. He said that MANY European countries pronounce it LAY-la. I asked him specifically how he pronounced it and he said "Lie-La". He told me he alternates back and forth and that both are correct. His "Lie-la" almost sounds like Lay-La, so they are very close.

So there it is...lol. They're both right. I think I'll go with Lie-la though.

My favorite perfume  I have had strangers come up to me in stores, all the way up here in Michigan, and say, "You smell like Epcot!" It's one of my favorite compliments :yay:

I have been wearing Laila for many years. DH wears Geir. We have met Geir Ness a couple times in the store. I have pictures of me with him too. He is charming & sweet.

I only have a couple days worth of Laila left & am hording it because I still have 2 weeks to go til I can get more.

That's a neat story! I'm using my Laila everyday....guess I'll have to plan another trip to WDW to replenish my stock!:cloud9:

I love it too! I wear it everyday, something about it is calming for me. I'll have to buy it online, I'll be out soon. :sad2: BUT it's Temporarily Out of Stock on Laila.com AND I don't see it on Nordstrom.com they just have the mens one. Hopefully it will be in Stock soon.

Geir Ness is in Epcot! He was there yesterday and I got to meet him. I love Laila too..and he pronounced it "LAY la" So that has to be right.

Actually it´s pronounced (LIE-la) if it´s norwegian. I know because I´m from neighboring Sweden and our languages is very similar, we have no problem understanding each other.

I am BEYOND obsessed with this perfume. Everytime we go to Epcot (which is pretty well everyday when we're at Disney) I b-line it to Norway and spritz myself like crazy and douse myself with the lotion. For some reason, I've never actually bought it. I keep saying I will, and then every trip, I never get around to buying it. Next time I'll buy it on our first day!
