Is the lagoon view at the Poly worth the additional cost? I currently have 2 garden view rooms booked at the Poly for May 24 to June 1, 2006. After reading several post about the Poly I am wondering if the lagoon view would make the trip more magical? I am going with my best friend and his kids. The oldest kid will be celebrating his 11th birthday while we are there and so I am trying to plan an extra special trip. Is the view worth the extra money? Thanks!

I would say yes, because many of the rooms have a great view of the Magic Kingdom castle. But it really depends on whether or not you feel comfortable spending the extra $$$. If you decide to go lagoon view, then request the Tahiti building and a castle view.

Oh, and welcome to the DIS!

yes! you get a great view of the fireworks at night, and its just magical to look at the castle all day/night when youre inbetween parks/activities.

request the third floor! noone will get in your way during the fireworks :)

we stayed in hawaii this last trip and had a third floor garden view, i regret not booking a lagoon view, we stayed in the lounge for long periods of time just for the view!

Most definitely, of course it will!

"Worth"is a subjective thing, only you can answer that. First of all, consider if you can afford it easily and won't miss the money when the bills come. Then decide if you are someone who would "rather" spend your money on souvenirs, or an extra special dinner or tour, or if you wouldn't spend the money on anything else really, but would rather be saving it for a rainy day or retirement, than you will see the money as "extra" that didn't need to be spent, you would be thinking about how much that view cost, and how that compares to other things you might spend the money on--and noone can tell you that but you. Is it worth it for you to spend money on souvenirs? Maybe, but I can tell you I never buy souvenirs, I hate them and I hate shopping, so for me, spending money on stuff to take home is a waste of my vacation time and money. If you love shopping and taking Disney things home to remember your vacation by, then souvenirs are worth every penny to you.
For us, we prefer having the magical view and feeling pampered in our resort choice, so it's worth every penny. I find if you ask about "worth" then you already know the answer. You probably won't feel comfortable doing it. ( I just mean that by asking, you apparently already feel somewhat uncomfortable with the choice)

Now all that being said--my advice is go for it! You WILL love the magical view, and you will never forget it! :teeth:

I think it's worth it...we stayed Lagoon View Concierge last year and it was BREATHTAKING! I wish we were lagoon view this year, but its not available :(

Everyone should try it at least once if you can afford it.

I upgraded at the desk when we got there, never regretted it.

Have a great time

You told me what I wanted to hear. I think I am going to switch to the lagoon view. Money isn't the issue because I just got a promotion at work so my raise covers the difference between garden view and lagoon view. I just needed someone to tell me I wasn't crazy to spend that much more for a view of the castle and/or water. By the way do you see the castle from most of the lagoon view rooms or is it just certain longhouses?

I got engaged longlonglong ago while in a lagoon view (castle centered on our window)Poly room that we lucked into (friends cancelled and we didn't need our Treehouse Villa) the FIRST TIME I was ever at WDW!!!!!

Can't beat it. Our building's name was changed from Tonga to Hawaii and Hawaii is concierge now. I also believe it is under remodel and so wont be taking ressies for it until late fall.

While 3rd floor can be great, if you have kids, it is lots of fun to be able to run outside the patio door and be on the grass and then the beach, never losing site of that castle view! Not sure if the 2nd floor rooms are still without balconies....but check because a balcony is a must!!!

At 9 or 9:30, the most fun thing is to sit on your lagoon front balcony and watch the water 'parade'. THAT is magical.

I think lagoon front Poly are the best view rooms in all of WDW. While the price is steep, it is the garden view rooms (or yuck, the monorail rrooms) that I wouldn't pay for.

Have fun whatever you choose!
