Another question for the polynesian experts. I have read that if I want a a Magic Kingdom (castle) view I should book lagoon concierge request a MK view and a balcony. (also something about the Hawaii longhouse) That being said is the view worth the extra money, sounds pretty cool to me. Any idea what it will cost for a 5 day stay in May, just curious. Any input would be great. We will be traveling with kids so I thought the MK view would be a bonus not only for the kids but for me too! princess:

Lagoon view from Hawaii(concierge level) is very special but I don't think anymore so than Tahiti or probably the other longhouses that have that view...Aerotea I think and a few rooms in Fiji? Tikiman's site can help you out there. Also the view should be about the same from the first floor as from the higher floors as the castle is way across the lake.

Whether it's worth it to you is a very personal question. The gardenview rooms at the Polynesian are truly lovely and can be more private feeling than lagoon view in our experience...although lagoon view in Tahiti would feel pretty private too as that beach is more secluded.

The view from Hawaii is amazing that is for sure! The concierage service is also great. Whether it is worth it to you is a matter of opinion. We stayed there last year and loved it. For us, it really worked since we have 2 DSs under the age of 8. The convenience of being able to go upstairs and grab breakfast or a snack was really nice.

All of the concierage rooms are in Hawaii. The concierage suites are in another building. As for the balcony or the patio, that also is a matter of opinion. We loved the patio and requested that again this year.

Do you know if I have to book concierge to get MK view or can I just book a lagoon room and request a MK view. I have heard concierge is quite a bit more in cost, but to me the food would be a plus seeing as we will have little ones who like to snack more than go for a full coarse meal for all 3 meals. Are there anymore bonus's to staying concierge. :fish: :cat: :fish:

Yep, for clarification I was only trying to discuss the lagoon view from Hawaii versus Tahiti, etc..

The concierge service in Hawaii is VERY special although another whole discussion point..

The concierage service is definitely more than just the food. The CMs there will make PSs for you -- even the harder to get ones like CRT, Pirate Cruise, etc. There is also daily turndown service with chocolates on the pillow. There are other little perks like not having to wait in line for check in -- you are driven by golf cart directly to your room and then can go down to the check-in desk (in the same building) when you are ready. We found last year that we loved being pampered so we are heading back for more!

All lagoon view rooms at the Polynesian have MK views.

You can "request" Magic Kingdom view but it is not guaranteed unless you book concierge lagoon view. All concierge rooms are in the Hawaii longhouse.

Tahiti has very good views of the Magic Kingdom also but again it would be a request.

Rack rates for a concierge lagoon view room in May are $525 and for a nonconcierge lagoon view room $430. Discounts have been available in the past for May, but that is never a guarantee either. This May annual pass discounts were offered at a rate of $315 for a lagoon room, not sure if any discounts were offered for concierge.

Sammie, I can't believe I disagree with a post of yours but at the Polynesian if you pay for lagoon view, you get a view of the lagoon with the MK. The Imagineers really paid attention to that I think.

If you are paying for lagoon view (non concierge), you can request Tahiti. It is a large longhouse and I would guess your chances would be good of getting Tahiti. But if you pay lagoon view rates, you will have a MK view.

Sorry to be confusing, long day today, I meant in order to get a guaranteed great view of the Magic Kingdom/castle. Some lagoon views while lovely don't have great views of the castle. For example there are a couple of lagoon view rooms in Tokelau and Aotearoa that don't. Definitely the views in Tahiti are fabulous.

I booked poly lagoon view concierge for our trip this June (which should be the same as May rates). The ap rate is $410 or $457 with tax. Originally, I was only able to get ap rate for two nights and the AAA rate for same room was $527 including tax. Thankfully, after almost daily calling, I got ap rate all nights. For us, the view is worth it since we had our grand honeymoon at Grand Floridian 7 years ago and could lay on our bed and watch the castle--although unfortunately it was that awful pink cake thing for the 25 anniversary! Although this is our first time at poly, we thought it would be best with concierge for our two boys 5 and 2. So far, Melissa has been wonderful and even got our Pirates Cruise which I was told was sold out! Tikimans site is probably the best source of info though. Have fun!
