Lady Tremaine being removed from MK

Such a shame, we've had so many great interactions with her and the step sisters over the years at MK - Fantasyland.

We are extremely disappointed that such a unique and special character interaction will be removed! That meet and greet is our favorite few minutes in the magic kingdom each trip

Very disappointed to read this news. Our character interactions with the Tremaine family have always been a magical part of our vacation. While others run to make the most of their mornings, my daughter always wants to be first in line for their meet and greets.

Us too. They are always the first thing DD wants to do on MK days. We have had so many special encounters with them over the last 8 years! We love them!!! I'm very glad the stepsisters will still be there, but losing Lady Tremaine is a big loss. She is hilarious for them to play off of, and in her exasperation at their antics and in her admonishments to the guests. It just won't be the same without her. DD (10) has loved them since she was 2 years old. She saw Cinderella II at that age and fell totally in love with Anastasia. On her first WDW trip, Anastasia was a must meet. We had a couple of issues (which I won't go into) and as a result wound up first in line for the meet with CMs handlers that knew how important they were to DD and went and told the characters right before they came out. As a result, Anastasia came out yelling about how someone told her she had a fan and that she needed to see her, Drizella was throwing a jealous fit because she wanted a fan, and the Stepmother was making a big fuss about how smart that little girl was and where was that wonderful child until she suddenly became horrified that the Anastasia fan was wearing a Cinderella dress, and then promptly began berating DH and I for dressing our child in such an awful outfit. They spent a lot of time with DD, and when I felt like I probably should move us along for the people behind us and told DD it was time to say goodbye, Anastasia told me to quit rushing DD because she had never had a fan before and those other people could just wait a minute because she and DD weren't done. Needless to say DD fell absolutely in love with all three of them, and they have been an absolute must do every MK day of every trip since.

We have always felt their meet and greet was by far the best in MK. They never disappoint. They are always totally entertaining and interactive. Plus, it is even fun to be in line for them because you see their crazy antics with the other guests and just in general. We have also been amazed at how well they remember DD after a visit for the rest of our trip, but maybe part of that is that she always tells them how much she loves Anastasia. When DD was 3, we had met them that morning and during the afternoon Parade, the stepmother spotted DD watching and yelled to her daughters that Anastasia's fan was there and they all came running over to her and made a fuss. When DD was 8, DD got picked to ride the carousel with Anastasia one morning and then we did their meet and greet, and they heard that we were going to the Villains' Soiree at MNSSHP that night and when we walked in to the Soiree, Anastasia and the Stepmother spotted us and immediately made a fuss over DD, greeting her by name. Later that week we had dinner at 1900 Park Faire and the stepmother recognized DD as she got to our side of the room. Anastasia and Drizella looked "different" that night and I watched the stepmother go over to each of them and whisper in their ear and point at DD. Sure enough as each got to our table they greeted DD by name and told her how glad they were to see her again.

I'm so glad that Anastasia and Drizella will still be there, but so sad that Lady Tremaine will not. I'm thankful that on our trip last fall that DD got some special moments with her one morning:

I was reading an article about Shanghai Disney running into cost overruns so they are cutting jobs and reducing job hours, services, parades, etc at DL & WDW. All the while raising prices and giving less. AP had huge price jump this year.

1900 PF serves breakfast and dinner as of now

Maybe they can add lunch now too

Breakfast has a different crew. Alice in Wonderland.

Really sad they are removing her. We enjoyed seeing her and stepsisters under the arch to New Fantasy Land.

I don't fully understand how the mymagic system was intended to make them money...I certainly don't spend any more than we used to, and I can say for sure that my trips are less enjoyable than in the days before mymagic came about and we have "cut down" from 3 trips a year to 2

The theory being less time in lines would leave more time spending money shopping and dinning. Honestly though out last trips I felt like we spent less, feeling like there wasn't time to shop/dine before a fast pass window. And the times I was in gift shops they were empty empty empty!! And it seems by the crowded walkways (I'm talking about you area outside Pirates) more people just wait around for fast pass windows to open then shop/dine, and now there are longer lines for rides that didn't use to...

Very sad that Lady Tremaine is leaving, and very sad at all the continued cuts. Not heading back anytime soon!

Destroying the magic... one item at a time.

My first thought was that it was odd because character budgets have to be insignificant compared to the daily operations budget. Until I realized how they're breaking it down - Rides, Shops, Entertainment, Parades, Character Interactions -
Where do you trim the budget? Parades are already gone from Animal Kingdom and DHS, Entertainment is practically gone from Epcot - Everything else is fixed or already cut to the bone. Character interactions (free ones) are all that's left to make any impact on the budget.

And YET they've crammed the parks tighter than ever, the on-site resorts are inconceivably overpriced (and still full) and they're still budget cutting and you're seeing the results here on the DIS as more and more people (myself included) are pulling back on trips.

I wonder if they're still reeling from the magic band/mymagic costs... (which, you'll note, has NOT been picked up by any of the other parks - including the newly opened ones)

Going up?? Or going up even 'more' outrageously?? They are ridiculous as they are, and way over crowded.

We were just there last week and saw Lady Tremaine alone meeting guests at the entrance to the new Fantasy Land. She is soooo good in character. As others feel, taking her out is a big mistake - she 'belongs' near the castle - the story is 'not' complete without her.

So disappointing. That threesome was so much fun in the MK. Even if you didn't line up to see them, they were a great part of the atmosphere and could be enjoyed from afar. I'm sure the sisters will still get in some trouble, but we love Lady Tremaine and she will be missed.

I'm a little dismayed at the number of rumors I keep hearing about cuts at WDW being a result of cost overruns in Shanghai. With ticket price increases coming soon, I wonder how much more they'll want the WDW guests to pay to help finance Shanghai.

Yep to this!! What a disappointment!! I also agree as North of Mouse pointed out the story is incomplete without her!
