Ladies, you have to help me.....shopping????

What are the specialties for Grand Caymen and Cozumel. I have been doing research, and I can't see anything that I should be looking for specifically.

Can I look for good prices on jewelry such as David Yurman and Lois Hill?? I don't know, everything I have read so far about these two islands, say that the prices aren't that great because the islands are so commercialized from the cruisers.

Anybody have any tips or advice on this subject?

In my opinion, the Western seems to have better excursions and the Eastern has better shopping.

For the BEST info on shopping, make sure that you attend the
Shopping seminar and the Gemstone and Jewelry seminar. The Shopping in Paradise guide will have the lowdown on the best places to shop, especially for designer jewelry. He recommended a shop for me and I got a great deal on a John Hardy bracelet.

I do remember getting GREAT deals on silver, Kahlua and tequilia (yes..I'm a horrible speller!!).

But you can get good deals on the western in Cozumel. Skip GC for shopping, it is a very wealthy island and the jewelry "deals" are no bargin. Make sure when you are in cozumel though that you shop in DCL "approved " stores, that will help you in recourse if you are ripped off. Never pay the asking price and know what you are buying. (look here in the states first) and you can get good deals, I got a diamond ring at Diamonds International Cozumel for about $850.00. They wanted $1300.00 first we talked them down, left, returned. Got it for $50.00 more than we wanted to spend. It appraised back home for $2100.00. Also make sure you get a written appraisal and gaurentee!

Be sure you at least go into Bernard K Pasman. He does things with black coral that are amazing. Expensive, but amazing.

Can stress strongly enough in Mexico stick to the approved list. I just found another $500 on my card that I am sure came when they stole the number when we used it at a non listed store.
