Ladies, would you wear a white jean jacket in the Fall?

Someone forgot to teach me all of these "rules" when I was growing up. :confused3

If I want to wear white shoes/pants/jackets I am going to wear them, no matter what time of year it is. Now you've got me wondering if all of the fashion police are laughing at me and snickering as I walk down the street. I'll have to check!! :teeth:

Like I care anyhow!! I think the jacket sounds like a favorite of the OP, and in that case, I think she should wear it anytime she pleases. :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 I was always :confused3 by the no white after Labor Day rule anyway. I was just thinking of that recently too because my DD is going to need all white sneakers for her cheerleading which does competitions Jan - April. I was laughing thinking "That's before Memorial Day" (isn't that the day you can then wear white? I actually have no idea when you *can* wear white, just heard you aren't supposed to after Labor day but I never paid attention to that).

No but im one of those crazy southern girls that abides by the rules. No white for me unless its wool after Labor day.

Who made these rules anyway? Can they ever be modified or changed, or are they here until the end of time?

I say...wear it!

You can be a trend setter...

I am tall, but I like short jackets, so I ordered a petite.

Did you look at your picture??? ;) :goodvibes

BTW....I'd wear the white jacket...It's denim...If it were cotton, I might think twice...

I'd wear it too. I don't pay much attention to that white rule :)

I also believe that the rules NEVER applied to tops, just pants/skirts/shoes/dresses and gowns...unless you were a bride, nurse, or wearing athletic clothing or clerical robes, or were in the tropics.

Winter white is not a "pure" white; more of a cream color. If your jacket is optic white (pure) it might look too intense, but it would depend upon what you're wearing.

Just in case anyone was interested in looking at this particular jacket, its on the JJill website, but make sure you click on the reduced items. Its last Springs jacket, it was 78.00, its now only 39.00, but I opened a CC (I paid it right then and there, and will cut it up when I get it, just wanted to get the 20% off) to get the discount. So in the end, I only paid 31.00. Pretty good, ha? I am tall, but I like short jackets, so I ordered a petite.

Definitely wear the jacket!

And don't be so quick to cut up your J.Jill card. They periodically offer CC holders an additional 15 to 20 percent off if they use their card. Then just pay the balance off in full. Works great if you have online banking, you can go home and pay it off that day before you even get the bill.

P.S. I have an off white jean jacket with beading on the back that I will wear in the fall and spring. Now my white eyelet suit-type jacket has been put away until next year.

Thanks everyone, it sounds like a clear concensus thats its okay. Elaine, I'm just curious, why wouldn't you wear white denim? I love it! But not pants, never white pants.
It's a very much of a personal taste thing for me. I don't like wearing white pants, white skirts or white denim. I can't explain it. I really don't like wearing a lot of white to begin with. I think it has to do with a poor self esteem here, and I think the white just makes me look too big. I also am a klutz and let me tell you, if something will get spilled or stains, it'll happen.

I really can't explain but I don't buy any "colored" denim anymore. If it isn't a wash of blue, I just am not drawn to it.
That said I don't ever look at somoene bad for wearing it. It's just not "me"

Nothing else, but I just felt like being silly when I replied. Of course I wouldn't wear it myself ;) but I wouldn't think twice about wearing it if I did like it (if that makes sense).

Elaine, funny you should mention all this about jean anything. I have never, ever been a jean kind of girl. Untiiiil....I lost 80 lbs a year and a half ago. Now its so fun to shop! :) I never would have thought about white tops or jean jackets, ever. I have a whole new outlook now.

...

:teeth: Do you mean because I look so short next to my boys and hubby? My son next to me is 6'2" in the pic in my siggie. But believe me, I'm tall! I'm 5'7", I'm always the tallest girl at the gym it seems, in the mirror. :) But not next to my bestest guys!!

Wear it!
BTW-Does anyone have a sound logical reason why one should not wear white after labor day? I mean other than the old "they" say you shouldnt.

I have that same jean jacket. I bought the jeans to go with it, and yes, I wear it in the Fall. Its winter white, not stark white, and can be worn year round. In fact, its actually better for the fall and winter months.

That is an awesome outlook to have! Congrats on being such a big "loser" I've lost about 70 pounds myself so I can understand how that feels. Though I am the opposite. I have always been a denim girl, but I just like it in blue. The more I think about it, the more I realize I just like blue and green a lot! I'm also drawn to deeper and richer colors in general. Though, I admit, I still have self esteem issues, and I'm probably just not out of my rut yet. I'm down to a great little size, but I can't get over the idea that I am too big still

I think the whole jean jacket idea is such a cute one! I've been on the hunt for one I love, but haven't found it yet. It was something I actually loved about the 80s and glad to see came back :teeth:

Elaine, congrats on your weight loss too! Isn't it great? But I know what you mean about still feeling that way, its a whole new mind set we have to have now.
