I have been fighting my curly hair for years. I straighten it, flat iron it, blow it out, got the Brazilian blow out.... I'm done!

I've decided to embrace the curls.

Can you recommend some products that you use either as a great conditioner, or something you leave in your hair to keep the curl looking "fresh" but not the wet/crunchy look.

TIA

Is there a lot of humidity where you live? That is the killer with my curly hair, fighting the frizz! The best conditioner I've found is Redken All Soft, but it's not good if you color your hair (according to my stylist at least). I have never found anything I totally love for holding the curl without crunch (I hate that too - I call it "Extra Crispy").

There are some stylists on here, so hopefully someone will chime in with some good advice!

Oodles of Noodles. Keeps the curls looking great all day and controls the frizz.

You can scrunch with it and blow dry or air dry or just put it in after washing and let it air dry and the curls stay looking good.

A hair stylist told me that if you get the "crunch" from your scrunched curls, you are using the wrong product. Not sure if that's true but I swear by OofN.

I have a love hate relationship with mine and 9/10 times I straighten it. But I have used Herbal Essences totally twisted I think it's called shampoo/conditioner and they have a gel you can scrunch in your hair to bring them to life. The little time I will do that, I use their stuff.

Diva Curl - An-gel and Believe In for product. Also Loreal Curling Mouse if I need something stronger

Shampoo/conditioner - Organix Coconut

I straightened my hair for 11 years. Around 2 years ago I decided to embrace the curl and stop killing my hair. I've tried a lot of products. The best syling products so far are TIGI Catwalk Curlesque Curls Rock Amplifier and Curl Junkie Curls in a bottle. I currently use them together but have good results using one. For Curls Rock use about 2 pumps and thin with a little warm water as it is too thick to apply evenly. After my hair dries either on its own or with diffuser I just scrunch the curls and there is no crunch. I use curl junkie shampoo and conditioner or curl junkie cleansing conditioner before hand as well. Found my hair does better with out sulfate and paraben which these don't contain.

There are many websites about curly hair. I used natrualcurly.com I think. I know I got the website off these boards a few yrs ago. It was very helpful at the time.

1 thing I learned was to stop shampooing hair wash hair with conditioner Summer I might use shampoo once every 2 weeks depending in how much I was sweating winter about once a month.

Towel drying creates frizz...wrap hair in an old Tshirt do not rub.

I LOVED Aussie mega moist shampoo an conditioner due to my hair thinning I've switched to Aussie mega for body an adding volume. If someone had told me when I was a teen I'd some day need shampoo to make my hair look thicker I'd have laughed my behind off.

I also stopped combing my hair wet or dry which only made big hair with frizz I do comb or sometimes brush hair just before washing it's good for the scalp.
After washing I run fingers thru hair an kinda shape it the way I want it to go.

I do know curly hair as a kid I had hair down past my behind that only hung to my shoulders when dry. It was very very thick too 6 inches in diameter when I pulled it back into ponytail.I was not allowed to cut hair.

1st thing I did when I turned 18 was cut hair....it was the best thing I ever did.

Since that time I've had short hair a long. Long it was short on top an sides Afew yrs there I had beautiful hair.

With age it's thinned out an I keep it short an have to work with it a bit to get the curls I want the way I want.

BTW Alfred Freida I think it is that make a great anti frizz cream that I loved.

Beleive me go with the curls do a bit of research in what works for you an embrace the curls.

This is the secret!!!! No matter what brand you use, your hair will be gorgeous if you stay away from these two ingredients and minimize alcohol as well.

I also am using the curly girl method, and it definitely stopped the frizz!

I've actually started to use Motions Oil Moisturizer; though it's formulated for African-American hair, it works really well on my curls. I use it entirely incorrectly (in the shower/bath, with water, as a sort of conditioner replacement), but the method gives me phenomenal, shiny curls with no frizz. Other than that, in terms of easily-obtainable mass-market products, I've found that Pantene for curly or dry hair works nicely.

Most importantly, I only use shampoo once a week--the rest of the time it's water and conditioner. Even the most curl-friendly shampoo leaves me all sorts of fly-aways.

Both DD and I use Aveeno Pure Renewal Shampoo and Conditioner (CVS or Target) no sulfates, etc. It makes a difference.

Sometimes I leave it curly, sometimes I blow dry, but I always squeeze it with a towel or tshirt, don't rub your curls with a towel.

I didn't go through the thread so I don't know if it has been mentioned but I LOVE John Frieda Dream Curls. I have wavy hair and I hate when products make my hair hard, this doesn't.

I use that gel too occasionally but if you put in too much it gets crunchy. If you add just the right amount it's really good, it's hard to judge though.

As someone with stick straight hair I want you to know I envy your curls. Good for you for embracing them! Isn't it funny how people with curly hair straighten it and people with straight hair curl it?
