Ladies what's in your carry on?

hmm... lets see

ipods (yes i have two... don't ask.. haha)
cell phone
nintendo ds
paperback book (typically a beat up Harry Potter) or my ereader
glasses and contact case
prescription meds
flipflops (i hate wearing shoes and my feet swell like balloons on planes)
tube of lip gloss
1 snack, typically brownies
soda or water (bought after security)
gum
change of underwear, just in case!
camera
hand sanitizer
lysol wipes for the seat tray
wallet
sometimes a mini travel pillow (but only if I win the coin toss with my mom over it)

i swear it sounds like a lot.... (maybe it is i dunno) but it fits into a medium longchamps bag... sooo.. haha

I guess a list is going to look different if the person is traveling with only carryon, vs checking a bag in addition to having a carryon.

If I travel with just carryon bags (stays of 4 nights or less), I have a larger carryon bag in addition to either my large Vera Bradley tote bag or backpack.
I will usually have 4 changes of clothes, while wearing my 'heavier' clothes....jeans for instance.

I like to travel with less rather than more. So I usually check a bag. But, there are things I am just not comfortable checking. My electronics for instance. And the chargers that go with them. And I want to have something clean to wear just in case my checked bag goes to Seattle when I'm in Orlando. I have had a bag be misdirected before..it's not a ton of fun.
I have also been stuck on a plane that was rerouted. I had the choice of getting off without my checked bags, at the new airport and flying home the next morning, or staying with the plane, returning to FtL, and get my checked bags. IF I had properly packed my carryon bag I could have gotten off in Philly and not had another 3 hr flight that day!! But noooo, I was going home, why would I need to pack my carryon correctly?? Very bad move on my part.

i flew out to Iowa last year to visit a friend. our tiny puddle jumper of a plane couldn't handle even carryon small suitcases in the overhead, they all had to be checked. I was SO thankful I managed to stuff everything into my backpack. My friend who brought a small suitcase was not too pleased. There was such a problem that the pilot said they might not even be allowed to bring the checked luggage on the plane due to weight problems. Everyhing was going to have to come on another flight :scared1: Eventually they figured it out but it was such a weird situation. After that I started taking to your strategy. I wear all my heaviest stuff and try to cram as much as possible into the smallest bags possible

I take your advice now too - including having extra underwear in my carryon. ;)

This time I'm checking a bag with the kids stuff in it, so in my carry on (21" bag) I'll have my clothes, my medications, some tiaras (don't ask) and DS11's Crocs. I'm not packing anything into the checked bag that I wouldn't want stolen.

I don't take a purse to WDW, so in my back pack I'll have all of my travel documents, plus:

Camera and charger
Laptop and cords
Earphones
A book
And some extra odds and ends like band aids, Tylenol, pressed powder, suntan lotion, fingernail polish, and my "happy flying pills" :goodvibes

Hey, every well dressed woman flies with her tiara!!!princess:

In all seriousness though....it really does pay to pack some clean things in that carryon. You don't need a lot, but the one time you need something, you'll be so glad you packed the right way.
I'm thrilled some are understanding what I'm saying. If someone can benefit from my mistakes then it's almost worth it!!!:thumbsup2
