Opening Weekend for Women's College Softball 2025 is here!

And a strong field next week at Clearwater.

Should be a huge year-lots of storylines.

Oklahoma will be a hard sellout during their first trip through the SEC and Softball's first Million Dollar player will try to give Texas Tech a good ROI.

I love the start of Softball Season because it means Spring isn't too far behind!

Play ball!

I just restarted my ESPN+ subscription last night!!! Excited because we get to see at least a couple of girls we know hitting the field today. Also excited to watch the Clearwater Invitational this year since we were playing on those fields back in November. It's always kind of cool to see a places you've played on tv.

I'm really curious to see how OU fares this year. DD18 is a freshman at OU so I keep getting a bunch of social media posts regarding OU softball. Obviously, not much on the matter out of Gasso or the players, but the fanbase is pretty ticked about the pre-season rankings. Will that light a fire in them to prove everyone wrong? Or will they be dethroned? While they've got excellent recruiting, you can't ignore the amount of talent that graduated after last season.

As for Tech, I'm curious to see how much of a difference Canady will make for their program as well as how her loss will impact Stanford. Pitching is such a critical game changer, so I expect big things, but I also know there have been rumblings with the coaching changes prior to her announcement. In other words, everyone is wondering how the program will look under Glasco.

I also need to buy some tickets! OU softball tickets are so ridiculous that I'm not even going to try, but the kids all want to head to College Station when Arkansas comes to town to cheer on a high school friend. Yay softball!!! 🥎🥎🥎🥎🥎🥎🥎

I am thinking Oklahoma is M A D!lol

I am watching Utah State with a 5-3 lead on #7 Texas A&M in the sixth.

Canady has extreme pressure on her to at a minimum make the World Series.

Fun times!

While we didn't have game coverage for this one, at one point last night I was checking scores and saw OU tied with San Diego State in the 6th and thought we might see a day 1 upset. OU pulled it out, but it looked like a bit of a day 1 scare. Speaking of OU...well, former OU...Nebraska did a really good job of handling Tennessee with Bahl in the circle. We'll have to see if she can stay healthy, but I have to wonder if that win is a taste of what's to come with them.

I watched a chunk of that A&M/Utah State game. It was really good for a while. I was a bit disappointed when it all just fell apart. A&M definitely carried that momentum into their later game against Purdue.

I know there are still a lot of people scratching their heads over her decision to leave Stanford. I'm sure her people had dollar figures in mind well before her announcement to enter the portal, but it will be interesting to see where they wind up as we get to the WCWS.

Nebraska v. Texas Tech/Bahl v. Canady on MLB Network @ 4:00 PM EST.

Early chance for Canady to start earning that Million $ !

Canady hasn't pitched, but she just hit a 3 run home run!

More than one way to earn that Mil I guess. Lol

Looks like the SEC may prove to be a worthy challenge for the Sooners.

After routinely going undefeated in the Big 12 for years, after a dozen games in the SEC,they are 9-3.

I think some of the story (at least for this weekend) is also Tennessee's Karlyn Pickens. I've also seen that Patty Gasso is getting some heat for keeping Ella Parker in the lineup, especially since she's not 100%. I know she hasn't been producing in SEC play but Patty still believes in her. It sounds like she's trying to diffuse some of the pressure on the team in general.

I am watching the Auburn/UAB game and have never seen this before.

The Auburn catcher has the "yips" and cannot throw the ball accurately back to the pitcher.

She can throw to second base, etc.

So EVERY pitch, she has to walk the ball back to the pitcher!

She is too valuable to the team to replace so it is what it is!

Texas just lost 2 of 3 to Tennessee giving them 4 SEC losses already.

I hope Texas and Oklahome weren't expecting to breeze through the meat grinder that is the SEC.
