So what were the first signs that made you think you might be pregnant?

I just recently ( about a week ago) noticed that my ankles are very swollen, and I have never had swollen ankles ( I was nicknamed chicken ankles my whole life), my acid reflux has been a lot more and a lot worse for the past 2 weeks, and I have been asked in the past month or so by 2 people if I was expecting, so I was wondering if I am just a worrier or if I should call my Dr. or not...TIA

BTW This might be TMI but I have been having my monthly visitor and I am on the pill..

My first symptoms were being completely exhausted. I couldn't stay up past 8. Swelling didn't kick in until much later for me.

But if you are on the pill. You better take a test to be sure. You don't want to be taking that if you are pregnant.

Good luck.

Like Java said, take a test.

Same thing as her-- I have insomnia (horrible, horrible insomnia) and I started going to bed (and falling asleep!) at normal hours. So when I was about 5 days late I went and got a test and there was the +.

Yep same as Java.. I couldn't stay awake to save my life!! I never had swelling issues. Reflux also came MUCH later like 7 months or so for me.

Like they all said... Sleepy. Fell asleep in the movie theater during a movie I wanted to watch!!!

If the test is negative you might want to have blood pressure checked, that can cause swelling. So can random water retention, which could explain the other issue you mentioned. If you are retaining water like that you'll want to find out why. YMMV

If you think you might be then you should go buy a test and take it at home. I figured it out because my monthly visitor failed to visit in March. So on April 1st I took a test. Honestly, DBF was told he could not have kids. I really didn't think I was but just wanted to be sure. I am due on December 2nd. So I suggest taking a test.

Well, considering that *I* didn't recognize any symptoms of early pregnancy with any of my 3 kids, I can only tell you what my husband noted: sleepiness and extremely increased irritability. And frying hamburgers 3-4 times a week. Yep, when the cast iron skillet comes out there's your sign.

cravings cravings cravings for me and of course the missed periods.

Hey, I'd take a test, and while you're at the drugstore buying one, please use the blood pressure machine to get a preliminary reading. I'd visit the doctor, too. I'm a little concerned about your blood pressure. Swollen ankles at our age (I'm also 29) can be a symptom of that kind of problem.

If your on the pill and swollen ankles can be a sign of high BP I would recommend taking a test, if its negative speaking with your DR since BC and High BP is not good. When I was on BC I had to monitor my BP before they would refill me because they were afraid my BP would get too high.

Before I found out??? That's only a couple of weeks after conception, so not really any symptoms that early. I guess if I had to really pinpoint a symptom that early it would be sore breasts.

The sleepiness stage didn't kick in until about 3 weeks after that. I was tired all the time! I was off for the summer (from teaching) and I remember thinking how I was so glad I could take a nap each afternoon, otherwise I would have not been able to function. I also had some mild cramping here and there very early on.

I did get swollen feet but not until the last two weeks of my pregnancy.

Tired and nauseous. Have you been on antibiotics within the last few months? Have you missed any pills? Do you take your pills at the same time every day? Take a test, and either way followup with a doctor.

Under more stress than usual? That can cause your blood pressure to go up...which can puff up those ankles. And you talk like the acid isn't a new thing...just worse than usual. Stress can definately kick that into high gear too. (boy do I know that one...)

Doesn't sound like pregnancy symptoms to me. (Well, not EARLY ones...more like 3+ months ones...)

I definitly agree!!!! See your Dr.

Hang on.. aren't you a nurse? Snag a HCG test from work and take one like I did.

I agree with others to take a test.

My first sign was also extreme exhuastion/sleepyness. I fell asleep eating dinner at the table at about 6:00 one night (and had had ten hours of sleep the night before). I had no idea sleepiness could be a sign of pregnancy and was so worried about what the heck could be making me suddenly that tired.

Before I knew officially - exhaustion. I remember going Christmas shopping with DH and having to sit down to rest. (A positive pregnancy test was our Christmas present!) I slept A LOT at the beginning and end of that pregnancy. Of course, I could because it was my first one!

Why not go to the doctor to get things checked out?
