breakthrough bleeding? I hate to ask. I never have before, but I think I am now. I've looked it up online and I didn't see much about it on webmd. I have called a 24 hour nurse and plan to go to the doctor on Monday. It's not an emergency but I am concerned. My biggest concern is it might not be that.
Have you had experience with this? How long did it last? Ugh.

I hate to say it however my sister's MIL was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and this is one of the symptoms.

I am not trying to scare you however it is something that is often overlooked because there are not real tests for it. I am just in shock because we found out this past week.

I hope it is nothing.

How old are you? I started experiencing it around age 40. I've had scans twice and the doctor says it is because of a harmless fibroid close to the uterine lining. It's common pre-menopausal.

Could you be pregnant? I've heard of implantation bleeding. Also a friend of mine had some bleeding with a tubal pregnancy.

Oh gosh, that is VERY, VERY common and most likely not a cause for concern at all! I've had it off and on for basically forever...just hormonal fluctuations, no concerns. All exams have been just fine.

Please don't worry yourself too much. I'm glad you're getting it checked out, but most likely, it is NOTHING.

Many different things it could be. When it comes to your health, checking out things that have changed is wise. However, most likely you will have an easy/simple explanation like hormone fluxuation. Try not to worry. It does happen to women every day. I never had a cycle that I didn't have some sort of break through or prolongation. Everyone is different.

OMG LOTSSSS of times! As mentioned above..are you on the pill? Menopausal? So many things can make it happen and 99.9% of them not serious! Please, don't get all worried...by all means call or see your Dr but I am really sure it is nothing of concern!!!!

I had never experienced it until the last few months. I just turned 32. My doctor said it was most likely from the Pill since I had just had an annual and had only been on this brand for 3 months. It stopped the next month.

Switching Oral Contraceptives can easily do it..some are much more inclined than others to make it happen as well. My DD switched hers and had to switch back to her original prescription because of it. Also, simple things like of course skipping a day but even taking it at a different time than you usually do can cause breakthrough bleeding.

I am on the pill. I was alarmed because nothing has changed. It started Thurs. night and I don't start the "placebo" pills until tonight. Even at that, I wasn't expecting a visitor until Wed. or so. So almost a week early. Totally different from "normal" Aunt Flo. I'm in my 40s. Aunt Flo doesn't hang around very long and she kind of drops in now and then during her normal visitation time. Just long enough to be a nuisance.

She's brighter and hanging around longer already. Not fun to deal with. Sorry if TMI. But, I am glad to hear others stories that have had it. Thanks again.

I'm sorry about your sister's MIL. That's awful. I will keep her in my thoughts and prayers. Do you know any of her other symptoms?

I get that all the time...very annoying, but in my case it is no cause for alarm. I do believe the bright red is also a good sign...not "öld blood". Of course, if you *never* have something and then all of a sudden start getting it, i understand being alarmed and concerned. I would bet money it is nothing, but go get checked out to ease your mind.

Mid-40s could mean that you're showing signs of early menopause.

Is it constant or something that presented itself and then stopped?

Could be the beginning of the peri-meopause phase...that happened to me. Came out of nowhere...in my case, I had 'Aunt Flo' arrive and she wouldn't go! Stayed for 6 weeks! Went to the Dr and with a combination of meds she finally went away...I had some tests etc after that...but that could be the issue for you also.
