I have recently gone on birth control pills after 8 or 9 years of being off of them.

I need a hysterectomy due to cysts that keep returning, but can't have it now because hubby has to have his rotator cuff repaired and it may take a few weeks to heal or it could take several months. We wont know until the surgery is over on how long .

SOO for the time being I am on B.C. pills to keep cysts from hopefully getting any larger and then once hubby is all better , I will have my surgery. I need hubby up and running since this will be abdominal surgery and will need his help around house for a few weeks, can't have both of us healing at the same time.

My mood swings are insane right now, I am constantly on edge and hate it!! I am trying to hold it together and my poor family is on edge. I am wondering if it the b.c. pills .

Any one else have crazy mood swings on B.C. pills? I have a call in to Dr., but won't hear back from her until tomorrow. Normally I wouldn't ask a medical question on the dis LOL, but I have to know NOW haha, must be the hormones making me nuts. ;)

I am on Apri and I don't really have mood swings all the time, mine are just limited to a few days a month :goodvibes

Have you talked to you Dr about maybe going on a lower dose BC or changing which one you take?

It might be the brand that you're on. I took Lutera for about a year (worst pill EVER!) and had to get off it because DF said I was psychotic. I had the WORST mood swings. My doctor switched me to ortho tri-cyclen and I've been a much happier camper. :flower3:

it could the type of b.c your taking.. Mine doesnt do that... it helps treat the PMDD, which includes the mood swings and everything..

I had the opposite problem - I had major mood swings when I came off my BC pills. It only happened after I had DD, never before. I would see about getting switched to a new kind. I have been on several and only OTC did me right.

Hopefully she will change it, I am sure she will. I just was wondering if it was my imagination, this is nuts !
I yelled at my mom about leftovers on Easter and today at my hubby because he ate the last piece of chocolate cake . :rotfl: I did apologize as soon as I did it and my family had a good laugh .
Don't mess with a girl's food .

I was EVIL last fall, everything made me @#$&! Talked with my doctor, she switched me to a much lower dose pill and I feel much better. Little things no longer set me off for no reason and my poor DH no longer has to walk on eggshells around me. It's definitely worth checking out. :thumbsup2

If my DH ate the LAST piece of chocolate cake, he would wish he hadn't!!! That was a dumb move anyway regardless of your meds! :rotfl:

I agree the chocolate cake would have gotten my husband yelled at mood swings or no mood swings. Hope you find a pill that works for you.

I absolutely cannot tolerate birth control for longer than 6 months. I seriously go crazy and DH and I fight like cats and dogs. He needs someone with patience and I have zero, zilch, nada on BCP. I was a raving lunatic. :rotfl: So it's probably the pills.

That said, the only brand I could EVER take was Alesse. It took a lot longer to build up or something, I'm not sure... I could usually do 6 months before I needed to stop.
I didn't even make it 6 months after DS though... (obviously, haha)

Did I mention he took the last Diet Coke to work too ? :rotfl:

Hopefully she will switch it, or maybe I will drop them . DH's surgery is in 2 weeks and then we will know how long it will be till I can have all the pieces and parts removed. I might can stick it out with out the B.C. pills.

I take Ortho Tri-Cyclin Lo. I never have PMS or mood swings now. I did before I took this pill.

I went off the pill for about 2 years before that I was on it for years. I have always taken one brand, there was never a generic for it so never had any problems. Well a generic came out and that is what my insurance will pay, honestly it made me feel horrible!! I mention it to the Dr. and he told me a generic can have a 20% difference in the inactive ingredients.

I just went back on the pill and it is the generic again - and if is awful - I need to see if I can get the name brand.

i agree with what everyone else has been saying, it very well could be the brand you're on. i took BC pills for about 4 years and i had to go thru a few to find a kind that worked for me.

altho in the end i had to stop altogether because of some side-effects, but in your case i think BC pills are definatly a good choice. cysts are not any fun at all, i've had one for a few months(it seems to be getting better tho) and when i first had it, it was the WORST pain i ever had.

i hope your DH recovers soon and that you'll be able to get your surgery and recover well, also! :thumbsup2

I definitely get mood swings from the BC-- even though mine claims to stop them (Yaz). I never had them before starting on the pill, but now, I am noticeably irritable. For everything else, though, this pill is good, so DBF just hides when he realizes I'm in a "mood" :rotfl:

I've been on several different kinds of BC pills, and I had problems with all of them. Yaz was the worst for me, though. In your case I'd definitely see about a change of brands.

Yes definitely try a different brand. Yaz is supposed to be great for people with PCOS (like me) but it made me paranoid! I was a mess, always accusing people of doing strange things. Not me at all!

I switched to Apri and it all went away. :thumbsup2

I'm with some other posters, it might be the brand you are on. I suffer from PMDD (horrible mood swings, I seriously thought I was going crazy) even with being on the pill. My OBGYN switched brands and I am MUCH better.

It's the brand you are on. It took me 3 tries to find the brand that worked well for me.

Call your GYN and try a different brand (maybe lower dose).

Hopefully you'll find the right one for you ASAP.

2nd this. Yaz made me psycho!!! I've been having issues with all brands so I'm off now. Try a different kind :)
