Okay my dear friends... I need some advice!

I know this has been discussed many times before, but I need to buy some make-up. I am open to hearing about all brands...

I'll give you a little info about me. I'm very fair skinned. I do not tan I redden. I have blonde hair, which means blonde eyelashes, etc. I am pretty simple with make-up mascara, foundation, and eyeliner.... But I don't go anywhere without putting those 3 on... My husband hates it!

We are going to Disney and our weather up here in Indiana has been terrible- no rain, humid, and extra hot!!! 102* hot!!

Thanks again ladies, you are always saving me! Please all suggestions and info needed!

I am also fair--I wear the lightest color in just about every brand. When it's hot, I use Bare Minerals for foundation. I also wear waterproof eyeliner (Stila) and mascara (Voluminous). Don't forget something on your lips with SPF :)

I am also fair skinned and wear minimal make up, eyeliner & mascara. I live in the south and know all to well how humidity works. lol I won't be wearing any make up during our trip, even in September. I of course will use a good sun block. :) Well, at least not when we are out at the parks during the day.

Put on sunblock on your face first and let it soak in/dry. Then apply a tinted moisturizer (most have added sunblock as well). A normal foundation will more than likely run or turn cakey throughout the day. If you want an option to take away shine, get a transluscent finishing powder, I believe Revlon makes one that's not too expensive. It doesn't provide any color but will give the illusion of a smoother look and if you wipe at your face you don't have to worry about it smearing or smudging. You can pretty much use any brand of waterproof eyeliner or mascara then, but personally I like Urban Decay. The 24/7 eyeliner is a great pencil option, it goes on almost like a gel and you can smudge it for the first minute or so then it has great lasting power, or the new liquid liner is pretty much smudge proof.

Tinter moisturiser with SPFto solve your foundation problem. All brands do them from low to high end.

Get semi permanent eye lash extensions. I had this done for hols last year, cost approx £70. Beautician will tint your eyelashes and then attach individual extension to each one.
They last about 6 weeks and look amazing. No need for eyeliner or mascara, does the job of both!
I usually wear liquid eyeliner/mascara everyday and needed neither.

I'm very fair, too (too much red-headed Irish blood). In preparation for spending lots of time outdoors, I usually hit the tanning bed about ten times, starting with four or five minutes for the first four trips. Most people say it does nothing, but keeps me from getting "sun rash" and utterly frying on those first treks outdoors.

For makeup in summer I use sunscreen on my face, foundation/powder or concealer under eyes, waterproof mascara and quickliner pencil - all Clinique. I like their SPF lipstick, too. That plus a hint of color from the tanning booth is enough for me.

Thanks everyone! I knew I'd have a few people who would be able to give me some advice. I appreciate it!

I'm glad to know there are several other "fair" skinned people out there! Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one. :rotfl:

Just a few weeks ago I went to WDW with Mary Kay mineral powder. It was my first time with this particular foundation and I was SO HAPPY with it! I have a very oily T-zone so I occasionally had to blot my face, but I would have to do that with any makeup, and I did it a LOT less. Plus it took me maybe 5 mins to do makeup every day (dab of concealer, mineral powder, tiny bit of blush, and non-wp mascara). I would highly recommend it! :goodvibes

i'm fair but i tan very easily even with freckles.
for the summer i change my makeup routine.

i was my face with garnier ( i love the built in scrub thingy)
then a quick spritz of toner to calm my redness
if you use a serum now is the time to do it. i use this for brightening some dark spots, but before that i used philosophy drops.
then i use a couple of drops of argan oil (if your prone to breakouts you can skip the oil) mixed in with my daily moisturizer from clarins. I got this as a gift, but i wouldn't pay so much for it:scared1:. i was using lush which is also fairly expensive, but if not then either clinique or garnier worked fine with me as long as i mixed them with the oil(i have VERY dry skin)
then i've been using Dr jartsthis one has an spf of 45 and it covers imperfections. i'm seriously in love with this stuff. the next best one is the garnier one also less expensive ;)
also worth noting is this stuff it works great and a little goes a long way.

i know this osunds like a lot but honestly the whole thing takes me about 5 minutes to do from start to finish.
as far as makeup tokidoki eyeliner is really great and water proof, and if you love your mascara but its not water proof then make it water proof with this

ok i think i got everything and hopefully the links are all correct:laughing:

I keep my makeup to a minimum when I am in the parks. I use Goodskin brand tinted moisturizer. It has spf protection, and has just the right amount of weight to it to give good coverage but not feel heavy.

Waterproof mascara is a must (I have found nothing beats good old Greatlash!) and tinted lip balm with an spf to finish up. Blistex has recently made their own version, and I like it a whole lot! Comes in peach, pink, or clear. It is not sticky or greasy and adds a nice amount of color to my lips.

Waterproof mascara is a must. My favorite is Maybelline Colossal but you could find waterproof versions of most mascaras. I can wear it all day without it smudging.

I like liquid foundation but it's not too great for the heat. I use primer before and brush some pressing powder on after foundation to set it. Any translucent powder would do. You could even keep it with you and dab some on midday to absorb any oil.

Pencil liner smudges easily so I wouldn't use that in the heat. Once set, liquid liner could stay all day. Prestige liner is my favorite. Also, I use Urban Decay Priming Potion before eye makeup to ensure that it stays all day.

Bare Minerals is awesome - you don't feel like it is melting off your face.

Plus it has SPF 15. When we were at a car show last month my arms & chest got so red but face stayed fine.

The best compliment for it is when I took a co-worker of my husbands to Vegas with me. I came out of the bathroom (about 3 min tops to put on my foundation, blush & mascara - and that's stretching it). She said 'I hate you b**ches who don't have to wear makeup but your skin still looks perfect!! I just cracked up. To me that was a great compliment that it looked good.

I, too, am fair, with the blond eyelash problem. I hate going anywhere without mascara on, because it looks like I have no eyelashes.

I found this mascara on Sephora, and while it's not super expensive, it's not all that cheap either. But when it comes to good makeup, I don't like to skimp.

This stuff has lasted through a couple of vacations, including one in Disney, and another in Florida. No smears, no smudges. It is a bit tricky to wash off, I use warm water, and lightly rub my eyelashes with a washcloth. It comes off in little "tubes". But it doesn't pull my eyelashes out.

Definitely worth it!

Another vote for mineral foundation! I use the Mary Kay brand and I love it. Can't imagine ever going back to liquid makeup again. Can't help you with the eye makeup because I hate the way it feels and don't wear it.

Oh this is my area of expertise! Here are some really high quality but cheap drugstore/walmart/target makeup brands:

I suggest covergirl oil free foundation with a little powder overtop. I am also fair skinned and wear the lightest shade, it's called classic ivory I believe. Blends nicely into the skin, doesn't give you pimples in fact I believe it's helped keep my skin very nice, clear, and appropriately moisturized. It also doesn't get cakey.

Covergirls lashblast waterproof mascara is absolutely fabulous.

Almay waterproof eyeliner is also a favorite of mine.

Now here is something slightly pricy. If you ever wear eyeshadow then I HIGHLY suggest getting Urban Decay primer potion, it keeps your eyeshadow from coming off or smudging. It doesn't say it's waterproof but it works that way. It's worth the price and a tube of it should last you a very long time (about 2 years) since a little goes a long way. You can get it at Ulta or Sephore cosmetic stores. Sometimes Macy's cosmetic section will have a small makeshift Sephora. Or just order it offline.

It comes with different tints because some people like to wear it as if it's an eyeshadow, which I sometimes do too. I have the original, which just blends into the skin like a foundation. I also have the one called 'sin' which is a beautiful champagne color :worship: the picture of it on the site doesn't do it justice here's a swatch:

And this is surprisingly the best makeup remover I've come across!

Get's everything off so easy, and it's very good on my skin. And very cheap!

I am a red head with fair skin and I also have light eyelashes so I feel your pain! I absolutely love MAC. It lasts a long time and it looks great. It may seem a little expensive up front but it lasts longer than the store brand because you dont have to use as much. It is what a lot of makeup artists use. Here are a few tips that I have found useful:

Apply moisturizer to your skin and let it sit for a few minutes and then blot the excess moisturizer with a tissue to and then apply your foundation as usual. This will make your foundation look better.

Apply concealer to your eyelids before adding eyeshadow. It will make it last longer.

Use eyeliner on the inner rim of your eyelid as close to your lash line as possible. Not only does it help us ladies with light eyelashes but it makes them look fuller.

I hope this helps!

I'm another that highly recommends mineral makeup (stays on so much better than liquid makeup and feels much lighter, like you are not wearing anything). I normally apply moisturizer, let it soak in, then Neutrogena facial sunscreen, let it dry, then use mineral makeup (foundation, eyeshadows and blushes). Someone recommended Urban Decay Primer Potion and I heartily agree. I have all three colors (Original, Sin, and Eden) and frequently use them alone as an all over eyeshadow, if I'm in a hurry. If using as a primer, they keep your eyeshadow fresh looking and crease free all day. Several years ago I had permanent makeup tattooed on, so have permanent eyeliner (dark brownish/black with a tint of olive green to match my eyes) and lip color (my natural color, but several shades darker), but if I'm in the mood for something different, I use the Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner pencils. After applying, use a little shadow over them to set and the eyeliner stays really well all day without fading or smearing. I also always use waterproof mascara (normally Shiseido or Clarins). One thing I always use down there even if I don't use any other makeup is lip balm with a good spf. That is the one thing I carry with me and reapply frequently during the day. The wind and sun down there really does a number on my lips if I don't. Something I did this past May: I had a tech at my salon apply little bundles of false lashes using a semi permanent glue. I couldn't use my regular cleansing oil, but I had beautiful, really long, thick, curly lashes for over two weeks, without having to use mascara. lol

Another recommendation I've seen for keeping foundation on is to use Monostat antichafing gel as a primer. It makes your skin feel like silk and is supposed to keep your makeup from fading. I can't use it though, because for some reason it makes my dry skin even drier, causing flaking just between my eyebrows.:confused3 At night I use cleansing oil and a good cleanser to get make up off, then apply a rich night cream and eye cream, and use a little Vitamin E stick to areas I know have a tendency to be dry (usually between the eyes). Again I have dry skin anyway and sun and wind really does a number on it down there.

I'm fair and have sensitive skin too-brunette, but blue eyes and fair skin that burns and never tans, plus sensitive skin/allergies to some cosmetics.

I use Bare Minerals powder foundation, concealer, and mineral veil- they also make a dust on sunscreen that is great-I even use it in the part in my hair and it invisible-you almost don't even realize it's coming out of the container when you're putting it on, it's that light. The dust on sunscreen is a little pricey but worth it even if you just use it in your part and ears!

I also recommend Urban Decay 24/7 liner, UD eye shadow primer (you can use it to stay your shadow-it keeps your color true or by itself in a shade like "sin" for just a light natural look)- UD keeps it there until you want it off, sometimes I'll use their eyeshadow pencils too and they're great-super easy, travel well, and are waterproof too, and their All Nighter Makeup setting Spray is great too- It's a cool mist you spray on after all your makeup is done and it sets in place- love it. Plus most of Urban Decay's products are vegan and none of their products are tested on animals :)

Waterproof mascara is also a must- I love cliniques because it comes of cleanly without flaking and bothering my sensitive eyes.

I also pack those blotting rice papers in my bag to touch up in case of oil-super handy and don't take up much space.

Hope this helps! Have a great trip!!

I use Tarte brand tinted mositurizer with a face primer. I can't wear mineral powder makeup anymore as my skin is now too dry. Smashbox lip liner with a lip balm with spf and waterproof mascara finish me up. I get everything at Ulta Beauty.
