Ladies i need advice...body issues not sure what to wear! Shorts? Sundresses?

That looks like a cute skirt I might buy one to see how it works out... What color would you say would go better with about everything? Other than black?

Looks like they've changed up the colors a bit..I have a version of the khaki (khakina?) one and find I wear that the most. I also have a "stone" color that is a very light light tan....I wear that alot, but don't see that offered. I have the asphalt (very dark gray) and I like it, but I don't have as many things to match it.

My uniform at Disney is the Athleta skort and a Disney t-shirt (usually pick uo from my local Disney store or outletstore before I go!). Just ordered a pair of the Teva mush wedges mentioned here too...a coworker swears by them and she spends a ton of time walking Disney!

Can't go wrong with these skorts. They don't shrink and are just very flattering.

HTH!

Honestly, I LIVE in sundresses in Disney! They are breezy and comfortable! I have larger thighs so they rub together and create chaffing, so I actually wear spandex or compression shorts under my dresses. My mom thinks it's too hot and confining, but I think they keep me cool and comfortable. :confused3 I also am not a fan of shorts because I have a bigger butt and thighs and a small wasit. I always feel sef-conscious in them and uncomfortable because they ride up ALL THE TIME! I do have a pair of jean shorts from Old Navy that are a bit longer than normal short shorts and I am much more comfortable in them! Old Navy has a lot of options for sundresses and different short lengths.

I hope I helped!!

I think I am gonna try to find maybe some shorts and lightweight capri's or whatnot and also take some sundresses and such so that way i will have a variety of things to pick from based on what is most comfortable! :thumbsup2 we are driving so nothing is stopping me from over-packing except my husband nagging about how I always over-pack LOL

That is the right idea! I love sundresses, skirts and lightweight Capris (Old Navy are my favorite) with Disney tees when I am doing the parks. I am a curvy lady too, and shorts gap at the waist, leaving me very self conscious the entire day thinking my granny panties are showing. I hate that! :headache: ;)

Actually no, I am going to give you some underwear advice.... Go to Target, get the knock-off Spanx underwear shorts and use those for under your dresses, skirts, etc. Breathable, comfortable, prevents chafing and they make us look good, too! :thumbsup2

Have a great trip and don't worry, everyone else is just as hot as you are. Plan smart and be comfortable while looking nice. It makes for better pictures and a happier experience (because I too believe that how we feel on the inside and out has an impact on how we perceive the world and how we treat others). :goodvibes

My vote is for sundresses and capris!

I went to Disney at the end of June in 2010. Oh my goodness it was hotter than hot and we definitely had to plan for breaks. My hair is very long so I had to wear it waaay up! I am a flip flop girl so that's basically what I wore every day.

I do have pretty big thighs and chafing could be a problem. I bought some spandex type undergarments for tummy control that stopped about two inches above my knee!

I just buy the el-cheapo exercise/yoga shorts - the kind that normally go UNDER other exercise shorts that you should only wear by themselves if you're a swimsuit model. They're mainly cotton, very comfy, and keep everything from chafing. If my skirt flies up, no big deal. It's no hotter than wearing a pair of shorts! My problem is that I'm a 36DD, so I always wear a cantilevered, full-on support with underwire type bra, and it's hard finding a sundress that I can wear with a bra (not a big fan of showing my utilitarian bra straps to the world).

I'm glad I read this post. I LOVE wearing sundresses, but never really thought of wearing them at WDW...I think I might have to now

Thanks for starting this post. I have been looking high and low for skorts in place of shorts for our upcoming trip. I have a couple from Eddie Bauer from a few years back but wanted some different colors. Athleta as a nice selection. Thanks again!

Here's another "Thank You" for this post. I'm planning to go shopping next week for some summer stuff for our upcoming trip in August and never really thought about skorts and sundresses. I'm ok with shorts but realize that I may have to change a little more often knowing it's going to be brutually hot at that time of year. We have a great Outlet shopping center nearby and will plan to start there but if I can't find anything I like, I'll definitely order a couple of skorts from Athleta - they have some real cute styles. And I have to agree with the majority here....you definitely have to wear what's comfortable for you - Disneyworld (especially in the heat) is not the place to try new styles that you aren't used to wearing :)

I totally understand where you'e coming from! I am 4'11" and currently weigh 115 and am 5-10 lbs. over what I normally prefer to weigh. I hadn;t though of sundresses fro our next trip but it sounds like a great idea. I have found that I can wear girls size 16 from Target and Walmart (girls xl-14-16)and did find some shorts from there last year that fit me well and were the right length.
As far as shoes goes I always wore Tevas and Crocs but last year got the Mickey FitFlops and I love them so much more than the other brands! Wish I could wear them year-round here in PA! (and I have heel and ankle issue from previously having been a gymnast)

If only I could find some Disney sundresses as I usually wear Disney t-shirts with shorts/capris when we go depending on temp's :goodvibes

Have you tried Victoria's Secret? They have a great selection of shorts with varying inseams, so it's easy to find a good fit there.

I love wearing shorts or capris myself along with sandals. I just feel a little more comfortable with them on. Every now and then I will throw on my tennis shoes, but the last time I was at Disney I ended up getting blisters on both of my big toes...SMH

I don't like me in shorts. I don't even own shorts anymore. In the summer and at Disney you will find me in capris and tank or a sundress. I used to be a gym shoes girl but my last trip I wore flip flops and my feet were never more comfortable. So I orderd two pairs of the same flip flops for my upcoming trip!

The most important thing is comfort. There are people running around wearing a giant hat with Goofy ears hanging from it. Anything goes and don't worry so much how you look. I try to look nice, but I'm never trying to make a fashion statement. If I was only comfy in holey sweats and a ratty t-shirt that's what I would wear!

I would buy Lands Ends a few pairs of good shorts. They are built for grown ups with curves and come in petites. My friend is petite and curvy and wears theirs.

I'm planning on wearing all dresses on our trip. I have some from Lane Bryant and some from Old Navy. I find dresses to be much more comfortable than anything else. I am debating bringing a denim skirt but I am the same as you on the layering thing... when I have something with a waistband then I have to have a tank underneath my t-shirt and I think that will be hot.

My shoes are going to be Ryka sandals... they are literally just about the only shoes that don't kill my (very weird shaped) feet.
