Ladies, how often do you have your haircut?

I have somewhat of a dilemma. I am of an age where I believe that long (past the shoulders) hair is not attractive. I found a great hairdresser about 12 yrs ago and went regularly every 8 wks and never worried about my hair. Tried different syles, etc. Then she quit the salon, but told most of her customers she would still cut hair out of her home. My problem is that she has 4 children under the age of 10, she cares for her parents, and I work so only can go on Saturdays. She doesn't do appointments anymore, it is a matter of calling and scheduling a time then. We rarely seem to be able to to get a good time, and it has now been since Oct. and my hair is TOO long. I still run into her occasionally at the grocery so I hesitate to find someone else. Guess I would feel disloyal. What would you do?

If your schedules don't mix, what can you do? I'd find someone else. I have had 3 or 4 different hairdressers (besides myself!) in the past year. My hairdresser that I love moved around a bit and so I did pot luck a few times. Scarey, but hair grows. I just went two weeks ago and had my hair cut very very short. THe hairdresser does a lot of my coworkers' hair and I liked the way she cut most of them. Gave her free reign. told her to go for it. I love it. Most definately will go back to her.
Not easy to change, but I won't wait if I need it done.

When my hair was long I almost never got it cut. Now that it's shorter, I've been going every 6 weeks or so to keep it looking healthy.

I have short hair and must go every 6 weeks. If the cut has been particularly good, I can last up to 8 weeks. If it's bad or I'm in need of a highlight, I might be dying at the 4 week point. I have very "soft" hair.

I feel your pain. I am going to a woman who works out of her home, plus works in a salon. Sometimes it is hard to catch up with her, but the cut is $20 cheaper in her home. In fact, I was just there today!!!

Anyway, if you cannot get an appointment with her (especially since OCTOBER), it's time to find a new stylist.

I had the same problem. After following my hairdresser from place to place, her BF built a tiny salon for her in their home.

Where the sink was, the space was so tight that your knees hit the wall when you leaned back.

It would have been fine, but she had two DD's who were constantly coming in and out, along with their friends. The result was lopsided haircuts that took much longer than they should have.

I ended up finding a new hairdresser.

I've got long hair but I still like to get it cut every 8 weeks or the ends start to look messy.

A few years ago, I was also left hairdresserless when mine disappeared into the night. He was absolutely the best cutter I've ever been to. But it seems he wasn't in the country legally so he left one step ahead of the law. After two years of wandering aimlessly in search of a good cut, I finally settled on my present cutter. I'd say if your gal gives a good cut, she may be worth the wait. Finding someone else you like may be an arduous task.

I'm sure your hairdresser would understand if you happened to run in to her and your hair had been cut by someone else.

I need my hair cut every 6 to 8 weeks. If my hairdresser isn't available on my day off, I schedule with on of the other girls in the salon. My hairdresser understands.

My hair has always grown at a snail's pace. I keep it short. I just got it cut 2 weeks ago. Before that is was mid-December!
