where are u from and how often do u get a cut?

I'm just curious...

I'm from Staten Island, NY - alot of orientals cut hair here for much cheaper and i've been going to them for years - only paying about 25.00 for a cut/blow out! I was getting in a rut so went to a more upscale salon - different stylists charge different prices. I went yesterday - it cost $50.00 plus tax and tip!!! I do like the haircut....i don't go that often for a haircut - maybe 4x a year!

I usually pay $20 (including tip.) I've been going to the same woman since I was a kid so she generally doesn't mind throwing in more than just a trim for no extra charge!

I'm from Miami, have been going to the same woman for 15 years. She now charges $25 for a long hair haircut. I don't get it blown out because I prefer my own blow dry to hers but when I need both a cut and dry it's usually $40.

Rural Midwest.... $14 plus tip every three weeks. The lady I used to go to always wanted cookies for a tip...... but now she works for us! :lmao:

Southern CT. Paul Mitchell certified salon: $40 + tip for a wash cut and blow dry. I go about every 3 months.

I cut my own. Get compliments all the time to on it. Its wavy and kinda thick. Sounds scary cutting it but its so easy and I do a better job than anyone I've ever paid to do it before. : -)

just outside of Charlotte NC-- for a cut and blow dry $45 before tip.

They are Asian. Oriental is a freight liner.

Since the Oriental/Asian thing has been cleared up already:

I have secret shopped before for a hair cut and been reimbursed for the entire cut, plus tip up to $25.00. I had gone to a hair cuttery location on that shop, so it came out to $20, plus a $5 tip. So that one was free.

But I have a friend who is a hair dresser/stylist. She works at two different salons, one upscale, and one Supercuts. I see her at the Supercuts. And I only go to her when I want a full cut/renewal of my style. If it's for just a trim I'll go to the hair cuttery because it's more convient. Usually around $25.00, including tip every time.

I am currently trying to grow my hair out, so I cut off split ends myself to try to keep it healthy between cuts. Also, I have bangs, so I trim those my own as well. I can't imagine paying someone everything they need to be snipped.

I have very short hair, and get it cut every 4 - 6 weeks. I live in MI, and pay $45 per cut.

Rural Virginia here - $25. I only go once or twice a year, though, to get my split ends cleaned up. I like my hair long and it defeats the purpose if I go more often.

In NYC, a regular place would charge around $35, but I go to a more upscale place now, so it is around $55. I hate paying that much, but I definitely like it better than the local places.

(I am so happy to see several people stepped in on the "Oriental" thing. Sometimes we don't realize we're being offensive.)

I pay $15 for my haircuts at a Borics. The same woman has been cutting my hair since 2007 and she does a lovely job, and I see no need to go elsewhere.

I'm in Central Jersey and pay $90 a cut before tip, and it's worth every penny. Yes, pick your jaw up off the floor! I've had tons of compliments on my cut, but one of the best ones came from another stylist who was doing my hair for my sister's wedding. She kept commenting over and over what a great cut I had and how even it was, no matter how she teased it or combed it out. The other great complement I had was when I was getting make-up done at Guerlain at Epcot. The make-up artist started fixing my hair when she was done with the make-up and saw that I had highlights. She didn't notice them until she was finger-combing my hair.

Oh, and I go about 5 times a year for a cut, 2 times for highlights.

I don't pay...I do it myself. My hair is past my shoulders, somewhat layered, and wavy, so I can't really mess it up too bad.
My dd is an assistant at an upscale salon (she takes her test next month) so I ask her to do stuff for me or she'll offer to trim my hair.

I probably pay $25 with tip, but I tip well. I get my hair cut maybe once every 1.5 years. No joke. I do not style, color or futz with my hair. I let it grow and when it reaches its full length, I cut it off and donate it. That is the extent of my hair styling.

I work in Boston and get my hair cut in Harvard Square - its $65 plus tip. She cuts my hair so that my silver "highlights" look intentional. As my hair gets thinner my hair gets shorter so I have to go more often - about once every 8 weeks
