Ladies - How much do u pay for a haircut

$85, plus tip for the cut, which is pretty standard for a high-end salon in my major metro area. Highlights are $135, I think. After having had many, many bad haircuts in my life, it is absolutely worth it - my hair is fine and it seems to be easy for less skilled folks to screw it up. My stylist and colorist are perfectionists and I only go about 4x/year.

I have been going to the same stylist for 18 years. She charges $16. I go every four weeks.

Northeast PA here....cut and color.....$9.00 (nine!!!) plus tip. Haircut alone is $4.00 for women and $3.00 for men!

I'm in Central Jersey and pay $90 a cut before tip, and it's worth every penny. Yes, pick your jaw up off the floor! I've had tons of compliments on my cut, but one of the best ones came from another stylist who was doing my hair for my sister's wedding. She kept commenting over and over what a great cut I had and how even it was, no matter how she teased it or combed it out. The other great complement I had was when I was getting make-up done at Guerlain at Epcot. The make-up artist started fixing my hair when she was done with the make-up and saw that I had highlights. She didn't notice them until she was finger-combing my hair.

Oh, and I go about 5 times a year for a cut, 2 times for highlights.

I used to see someone in central CT who charged similarly. And his cuts were beyond fabulous! Even growing out it always looked great.

I also have a very short pixie cut. I go every 6 weeks. She charges me 40 every time and I leave her an $8 tip. So $48 every 6 weeks. Expensive but worth it. She does a nice job and I don't have to worry about styling it. :thumbsup2 Oh, and I live in Maine.

I have extremely long hair, like butt crack long. LOL It's shaped into a v at the bottom and my bangs are layered around my face. My stylist charges me $20, I tipped $5, she did my ombre hair color for $40, I tipped $10, she did DD13s cut for $10, I tipped $5.

$45. not including tip the gal who cuts it is my old boss and good friend so sometimes the tip is lunch unless I can sneak money in her station.

I like this thread...:goodvibes so...I am frugal,VERY frugal. I can cut hair, I cut my familys' hair ... I *could* cut my own hair....but I have drawn the line here.:rotfl2: I pay a friend at her salon 50.00 for a GOOD haircut. I was paying 28.00 plus tip, but the hairdresser just wasn't getting what I wanted,so I switched. I stretch it out to about 6 weeks between cuts, but it is one of the very few things I don't skimp on. With a good cut, I don't need to spend a lot on style products, or much time messing around,it actually saves me time and trouble by just getting it done well. It is one thing that I will continue to spend on....

My hair is longish, but I only get it cut at a salon maybe once a year or every 18 months. My hair stylist gives me a great cut with lots of layers and then I maintain trimming those layers from time to time at home. When I feel like it's starting to lose its "polish", I get it cut again. It's about $50 with tip ($42 hair cut with deep conditioning). I live in Virginia Beach, VA.

I cut my DH's hair :).

I am the same way. If you had told me a year ago that I'd be paying $80 for a haircut (including tip) I would have said you were crazy! But after too many lousy haircuts where the stylist spends 10 minutes cutting and 30 minutes trying to style it to make it look decent, I decided to try a salon where some of my wealthy colleagues go. My stylist listens when I say I don't have time to fuss with my hair in the morning. And when I say I don't want "ear muffs" and want to be able to put my hair behind my ears if I choose. She also cuts my hair so that the thinning spot on the top of my head doesn't show.

I was paying $14+tip at Great Clips for my very short haircut but they never did a great job. Just ok but I never loved it.

I just started at a new salon and had the grand opening special (shampoo, cut, style) for $19. I liked it so much I will go back and pay regular price $25

I am in Bluffton, SC and go every 5-6 weeks.

I pay $45 +tip at a local salon. I've tried lots of different stylist and I really like the one I'm with now. A cut and color can be anywhere between $85 and $145 depending on what has to be done. I go about once every 3 months.

My DH on the other hand spends more than I do overall. He goes to the barbershop weekly at $17 a trip. His hair is thinning on top so he keeps it super short and it looks funny if he goes more than about ten days without cutting it. I've told him he should just go ahead and shave it all off but he's holding out as long as he can.

Wow, I guess hair cuts are more here! Most places in town are $50/$60/$70, depending upon the stylist, and there are TONS of salons. I used to pay $60 for a cut, $130 for highlights, but then cheaped out, and found a salon in the next town (but different county - not as nice, not as expensive) that charges me $120 for a cut AND highlights! Ironically, the girl who does my hair lives in my town.

My hair is the one place I do spend a bit of money. A cut is $50+tip. And my hair grows like a weed so I have to get it cut every 6 weeks.

clearly NJ must be paying hairdressers very well because i have never gotten haircuts that cheap. i was going to a place and getting a cut/blowout for 25-35 (cheaper place). it was coming out really uneven.

i pay $50 plus tip for cut and blowout for my new lady. she switched to an upscale salon and they give me the rate of her old salon so i still pay that for a haircut most people pay at least $100 for. to make up for me getting a discounted rate on the cut i always tip $15. i keep long layers so i get my hair cut about 3-4 times a year. since i have curly hair its really important its done right. the extra $20-30 i pay a few times a year is totally worth it since i work in the corporate world in NYC.

Nice! Even the corner barbershop that cuts my DS's hair charges $12. I want to go where you go!

I pay $50 here in Maine. I too have had many bad haircuts so now that I found a place i love, I am staying put.

Just went in for a haircut yesterday and it was $60 including a coupon I used ($20 off). Not including tip. I can't say I'd trust the place handing out $25 or less haircuts around here. Even kids cuts are more than that.
