And more importantly, did you own a pair?

They were not your typical black mary jane shoes. They were made of a black cloth material. We used to call them chinese shoes.

I had a pair and I remember how uncomfortable they were. No arch support and hard on the soles. I think I only wore them a handful of times before pushing them to the back of my closet!

I had a pair of purple ones that I wore the entire 6th grade!

Ok, it was the early 80's, so that is my excuse.

I had a pair of those my freshman year of college. I wore them EVERYWHERE! I don't remember them being really uncomfortable.... actually I wouldn't mind having another pair now. :teeth:

Yes, they were called chinese shoes and they were everywhere during my junior year in high school. We wore them with white shoes. That's in 1983.

I had a pair in High school - yes very uncomfortable. They didn't last long.

Yes, now those I remember. The whole clacker thread must have been before my time. Those shoes were awful and I don't remember wearing them that often, but I definitely had a pair when I was little, I'm guessing maybe 5 or 6 years old.

Yes I remember them and no I didn't own any. Whenever I see these, it reminds me of the women with thick calves who wore them with short skirts-a fashion don't.

I remember selling them when I worked at Pier 1. I never had a pair, they seemed like they weren't comfy.

Weren't they called baby doll shoes? I think it was middle school when they ere popular.

I remember them too, but amazingly did not own a pair. :p

I have a pair of purple ones that I wear when I dress up as Tinkerbell for Halloween.....not comfortable, but ok for the one night

That's surprising ;)

I did have a pair and remember wearing them on my senior class trip to WDW :sunny:

I had a pair. The amazing thing is they are very popular here now. I see girls wearing them all the time. They are easy to get cause they sell them in the dollar stores.

I remember them being really comfortable, but didn't they get smelly?
