Every darn coat that I have is bulky. I get in the car and it's up in my face  it's too bulky to drive with...you get the picture.

Anyone have a coat that they love but isn't bulky.

I caan't stand to wear a coat in the car for exactly that reason...I usually end up shrugging out of mine once the heat kicks in.

But I did just buy a new wool coat that is nice and non-bulky. It isn't as insulated as some, but it's sufficient for me and it stays out of my way pretty nicely. I got it at JCPenneys when it was 50% off...more bargains! :teeth:

I have such a long commute (30 miles can take a while in the winter!), and I go from my garage to a parking garage at work...that I usually just wear a vest. (The older ladies at work yell at me for this...I'll wear a hat/scarf/gloves, but they still insist I'll freeze to death if my car breaks down...so they tell me to keep a fleece blanket in my car. heheh)

A jean jacket also works well.

What about a full-zip fleece jacket? Those are pretty warm and not bulky?

Or are you looking for something a big dressier? A cropped peacoat (one that hits at the hip) might work. AT first they DO seem a bit bulky, but I've found that after you wear it a while, it "calms down" heheheh.

I have a wool pea coat and it's not bulky at all.

I have a black Kookai coat that I absolutely love - it's nice and warm but still looks and feels thin and fitted. I actually went back to the store a couple of months after I bought it to try and get a second one (in case something was to happen to this one) but they had stopped doing them by then. The staff clearly thought I was nuts! :rotfl:

I would *LOVE* to need a big bulky coat because I adore snow! :goodvibes Here in FL I rarely need more than long sleeves in winter but I do have a light weight black blazer (extra long length) that I use if needed. Looks great with slacks or skirts.

I bought a fleece vest and a down vest this year. I love them but it gets pretty cold and windy here - doesn't it there, Stink? I am going to need a coat sooner or later. ;)

oh yeah, but I have these craxy long arms which don't fit into most coats anyway...so I go the vest route.

I have a puffy vest and a faux-fur lined vest...and when i'm outside in those, yeah, it get's chilly. I have a pea coat from old navy, a thiner "quilted" jacket from ESPIRIT (toatl 80's brand that I bought at Marshall's for $40)...

what about a ski jacket? like a columbia or north face jackets? those are nice and toasty, and slimmer.

I have a leather jacket that's pretty warm. I hate wearing bulky jackets for the same reason.

A wool or a wool blend coat is slim but warm. You wouldn't want to be out in a blizzard in it, but otherwise it should be what you're looking for. A shorter one (either waist length or knee lenght) can be worn for all but the most formal occasions so it's also very versitle. I have a knee length one for every day, and a full lenght one for formal ocasions (or if I'm in a dress or skirt and need to keep my legs warm!). I have a bulky one just for shoveling snow and walking the dog.

I have a couple of coats. Some are bulky, but, I wear them in the snowy, blustery weather. Then I have a long, dressy, black wool one thats super warm and I mainly wear that out to dinner. But, for my everyday, just plain cold weather coat, I wear my wool pea coat. Its great. Nice and warm and best of all not bulky at all. Its easy to drive in because its just the right length. I love it.

I just got a new wool pea coat at the Gap this year. It is sooo warm yet not bulky. It has a hood that you can button off, and I will be buttoning it off b/c it bugs me.

I have a snowboarding jacket by Columbia. it's not bulky and it's in 2 peices, so I could wear it as a fleece jacket or a windbreaker if I wanted to.

I also have a pea coat. I hate bulky and coats that ride up when I lift my arms, neither of these do that.

My Land's End parka isn't too bad but wearing any coat is a pain.......I'd rather be running around in shorts and T-shirts!! :)

I wear a fleece jacket until it gets very cold. Then I have a stadium type jacket. I like the coat just long to cover my butt :teeth:

I just bought this coat from Target...

and absolutely love it. It is gorgeous and warm and not bulky. I have received more compliments then I ever have for almost anything I have ever owned. People have actually stopped me to ask where I bought it.

Of course, when I bought it two weeks ago, it was full price  :rotfl:
